The Left has been a complete hypocrisy from the beginning, going way back. For some of us, that was always obvious. Given recent events, it is blindingly obvious. But ... will people wake up and see? Or will they toll over, go back to sleep, and dream pleasant dreams of a socialist utopia? I think that is what will happen. Some people want to rule over others and some people just want to be taken care of — the ideas of socialism are perfect for both groups.
Liberty and freedom are hard -- difficult concepts for most people, and even more difficult to accomplish and maintain.
The great American experiment in self-government was (and it saddens me to have to use the past tense) dependent on having enough citizens for whom liberty and freedom were paramount, so that those who crave power and those who only want welfare don't rule the day.
We as a nation have, in the last few decades, lost sight of what the Founders intended, and we as a society have decided that we don't want liberty, we don't want freedom, we want Free Stuff, and the government of greedy power-mad bass turds are more than happy to tell us anything to stay in power.
My heart breaks to say it, but the experiment has failed. Whether it can be recovered is unlikely. More likely we will pass through a period of awfulness that I in my 70's will not see the end of, nor will my child.
Well, on the upside, we had a pretty good run, all things considered.
I would amend it to say that the ideals of socialism are the perfect siren song for both groups. What they always end up with however is absolute power for the former and serfdom for the latter. Which is fine for the former. It takes a few years for the dopes in the latter to catch on to their raw deal...
the Left only survives where they can control the narrative. In the absence of that control, natural human logic does not accommodate its nonsense
