The attacks on Biden from the Democrat Establishment coincide with the ascent of Gavin Newsom.
How could the DNC avoid a messy primary and nominate their preferred candidate (Newsom)?
It’s in the fine print.
Biden is increasingly frail and confused, his dementia is worsening and his economic plan is faltering.
His popularity continues to crumble even among Democrats.
Consider the possibility that he resigns after receiving the Presidential nomination at the DNC 2024 convention.
Why that specific timing?
Because –
Rules adopted by the Democratic National Committee in 2022 leave the DNC as the sole authority to appoint a Presidential nominee where that nominee resigns after the August 2024 convention.
No vote or primary needed.
Newsom is already running a presidential campaign – his tour of China, Xi’s visit to SF (why not DC??), his civil rights stops in the US.
The question is whether he is targeting 2024 or 2028.
Maybe it’s both.
This is Newsom’s final term as governor; he’s barred from running in 2026.
Strategically, it is better for him to run now rather than wait until 2028. Think momentum.

My prediction is Biden will pull out of the race in 2024 with a little more than a month before the election. Whoever replaces him will not need to debate, not fund raise, not have to travel for campaign stops and will not be subjected to any negative ads.
All the Democrats have to do is fill in the blank.
The Democrats have made it clear — “Our Democracy” is whatever a few oligarchs want it to be. The will of the people plays no part in “Our Democracy”.
NOTE: They say “Our Democracy” but they mean Cosa Nostra.

I think Big Mike is the more likely candidate.
Dems will sign on to White male Newsome in a heartbeat. The Dem voters will have no problem not being part of a primary process.

Nope, too bold and too controversial given they are going to not allow any input from Dem voters, a.k.a. primary. The appointment of Biden's replacement will be controversial enough, Newsome is a more establishment safe appointment.
Newsome = American Trudeau.
Kamela will have to be dumped somehow.

Nothing is certain at this point. Noticed I said, “I think is more likely”.
Both the DNC and the RNC have absolute right over their nominations, no one has a property right to be the nominee and if they are sufficiently motivated, they can change the rules one minute before the convention, and dismiss the nominee at pleasure after the convention is over.
In the case of the RNC, it is obvious that they will deny their nomination to Donald Trump, “by any means necessary”, hopefully the Trump organization has a plan to run independently of the RNC.
In the case of the DNC, it is obvious Biden is being moved out, it’s been obvious since December, it’s almost equally obvious that Newsom is their boy. True, we don’t know the “how” or the “when” yet, they will have less agita if nature takes its course and spares the DNC the pain of dismissing Biden, but he’s out beyond question and Newsom (together with Gretchen Whitmer) are on the way in.
They giver her a venn diagram coloring book and sit her in the corner and promise her some other prize, perhaps a $250,000.speech tour or some other money maker with pretend gravitas.
What do you mean, "somehow"?
She is enormously unpopular in the party, she won 3 delegates on her own last time, she has zero support to remain in office, once the Newsom nomination is revealed, she will just disappear.

Most states have a deadline for a candidate to be on the ballot. They need lead time to: print the sample ballots to mail to the voters; print the ballots for the actual election (for those states that still have ballot forms); and a bigger lead time to print the vote-by-mail/absentee ballots. Therefore, the ouster of Bide would have to take place way more than a month out.
Since the democrats national convention is August 19-22, 2024, I suspect Biden will drop out/be pushed out, in September. That way, the DNC, can pick their own candidate, without risking both a primary and a food fight at the convention.
