Why would anybody in 2023 go on a Caribbean cruise with his face completely covered in a ridiculously oversized thick leather mask? It sort of defeats the whole purpose of what it means to relax on a cruise. On our January 2023 Steve Kane Radio Show cruise aboard the Celebrity Apex to the Eastern Caribbean there was ONE passenger aboard ship that wore such a ridiculous mask. I've told the story about that guy several times times. However, today while watching my review of the Apex Ocean View Cafe I noticed the mysterious masked man popping up in the last couple seconds of my video. I slowed him down and zoomed in for an analysis. What is your explanation for why anybody would currently still be wearing a mask aboard a cruise ship? It could be that he was just plain NUTS!!!
Why would anyone take a video of random people at the buffet?
Stop being a jerk.
Because I WASN'T. I was doing a video about the FOOD at the Celebrity Apex Ocean View Cafe buffet and that guy slipped into view at the tail end.
“ And scared people often do unwise things.”
Exactly, like going on a cruise where you’re thinking that you’re going to die.
First of all he is wearing a LEATHER, not a medical mask. Secondly he has to take that mask OFF to eat so any germs he wants to avoid he has to inhale. Thirdly, if you have those medical problems do you want to go aboard a ship loaded with passengers?
What’s even worse is getting on a cruise ship in the first place
You make a good point. If I was that worried about catching something I just wouldn’t go on a cruise.

Why? Were you on one of the Herd cruise lines where they pack in the passengers? Celebrity has limited number of passengers compared to other cruise lines. I never felt crowded the whole time I was aboard. Easy access to everything including the jacuzzis.
The Lone Ranger.
Absolutely don’t care. Just did a Carnival cruise a few weeks ago. From Baltimore of all places. Had a great time. Life, itself, has risks. Grateful for the amazing times with family. Doing another cruise next year.
Personal liberty is just that.
Or could just laugh at the obvious moron. A leather mask has no benefit whatsoever.
So if I see someone sitting by themselves in a car wearing a mask (and I have) I can't comment on that? Or comment on musicians that were forced to play their wind instruments through holes cut in their masks? Sorry, but when I see absurdity I have the right to comment on it.
if he has a type of cancer or taking oral chemo meds then he has ever right to wear a mask and is wise to do so.....many people are on meds that destroy your immune system so one has to be careful.
Leather?
If you like buffets, you might like a cruise ship.
If you like public pools, you might like a cruise ship.
If you like floating by paradise but not staying for weeks in it, you might like a cruise ship.
If you don’t know what Norovirus is, you might like cruise ships.
It’s the McDonalds’s/Wall Mart of vacations.
The above is my opinion, why i don’t go on cruise ships. I also don’t like Vegas, for the record. But hey, many like cruises and Vegas.
I stand corrected.
He may, also, be wearing gloves.
“But mask guy could just be scared.”
It’s not fear for many, it’s being careful. Some people, like myself, have the need for a reduced immune system for atopic dermatitis and treatment for chronic asthma. The drug I take, injectable, reduces the capacity of the immune system to attack the skin thus opening the door for illnesses that would normally be handled by a sound immune system like virus, some parasites and bacterial infections. I will on some occasions and in enclosed areas with crowds wear, but otherwise I don’t. Many people do that.
A couple of common illnesses on cruise ships that can be stopped with a good mask and space are Flu and other respiratory illnesses along with Norovirus.
And coronavirus is still out there so getting protection in any form with a reduced immune system is an effort that may be lifesaving if old and with other health concerns.
