DeSantis is really starting to embarrass himself!

Boy, DeSantis is really starting to embarrass himself! Running dry on money, polling in single digits in some polls and most of all, just not very likable for the voters. It's time to call it quits, Ron -- time to get back to Florida and work for the people that elected you! https://t.co/hYcko5ZwJt— Lou Dobbs (@LouDobbs) October 25, 2023

It’s important that DeSantis drops out now before the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries shows everyone the polls were BS all along.

That’s true....

The polls are likely weighted to give desanctimonious more supporters than he really has...

And in the primaries, desantis will have few, if any, votes from caucus or primary voters

I can’t recall seeing Trump really use a teleprompter...they may have been there, but he didn’t use them.

Do it.... in another thread...

We haven’t seen you have a multi-page meltdown in a while.

No, absolutely not!

We would much rather discuss his turning his Presidency over to the HHS swamp, flattening the economy..I mean curve, subsidizing election cheating through massive cash handouts, and adding $8 trillion to the national debt while in office.

“still several months until the primaries“

This is about Iowa.

Less than three months.

I’m not sure that constitutes “several months.”

Yes, maybe I will. I do note that you haven’t answered any of the recent questions I have asked you. Maybe we can have a discussion in a thread? That might be worth it.

I concur.

Two years ago, Ron DeSantis was highly regarded by the base, made mostly solid moves, picked great fights that garnered positive attention, and was often floated as Trump’s VP.

Then the old money came a’callin. The RINO retreads convinced him that he had to tear down Trump.

WRONG.

If his approach was. “President Trump was a great man, with solid ideas, but his jagged edges and chaotic style were a hindrance to many national discussions,” I think a great many people, even Trump supporters, would agree. He could have positioned himself as the policy wonk version of Trump, a MAGA warrior who doesn’t gratuitously and regularly shoot himself in the foot. As much as I love President Trump, have voted for him and will do so again, even I will admit he’s had his share of cringe-worthy moments.

Unfortunately for Ron, he got in bed with the wrong people. Moreover, the moment the lawfare started in earnest, the Trump base rallied and circled the wagons. Given that dynamic, it would be almost impossible for anyone to break through.

Why should I, or anyone else, for that matter, try to discuss or argue anything with you...

You’ve shown you use the tactics of the left, to argue something when you don’t have facts to back up your stance.

It’s seldom worth the energy to argue, when the opponent uses the leftist tactics of misdirection, going off on tangents, moving the goalpost, and personal attacks, to justify their stances.

I was just trying to stop you from continuing to threaten to do thread derails, like you have been doing in several threads...

I agree with you that that would have been his best strategy, and in fact that was the angle his surrogates were pushing before DeSantis formally announced. But there are two flaws with that narrative that he was never going to overcome.

First, the contention that Trump’s style was a hinderance to his effectiveness is something that many Trump supporters, myself included, don’t accept. That Trump “lost” in 2020 is a poor argument, to those of us who believe that he actually won in 2020 by a comfortable margin.

Second, when Trump preemptively started attacking DeSantis, it threw him off his game plan. If he ignored Trump’s attacks, it made him look weak. When his, “I’m focused on Biden, not Trump” approach didn’t work, he had nowhere to go but to abandon the strategy altogether and start attacking Trump on policy, not just style. That’s a losing argument for DeSantis and always will be. Believing that a majority of voters would view his accomplishments as governor of Florida as being greater than Trump’s accomplishments as president was folly on his part.

Trump is better when he ignores the teleprompter and goes off on a rant

I agree that Trump won in 2020.

No one will convince me that a post-turtle beat Trump.

He still could have countered without looking weak or attacking Trump/MAGA.

Pivoting is an art form most people don’t master, but it works.

For example, Trump goes after DeSantis by claiming Ron was struggling until Trump helped him out.

Ron responds, “I appreciated the help President Trump gave me and always will (pivot). I used that opportunity to show the country what can be done under my strong, steady leadership (inserts 3 talking point accomplishments).”

There’s the soundbite. That’s the X, rumble, etc.

No disrespect to Trump/MAGA. Now if Trump comes back with the same line of attack, he looks petty.

But that ship has sailed. As you mentioned, he started going after Trump on policy...when implementing sound policy, in the face of enemies on all fronts, was Trump’s strong suit.

So sad to see a very well liked rising star COMPLETELY DESTROY his political career!

* * *

His wife and he are covetous of the money attacking Trump brings to the family.

It may be nothing more complicated than that — Christie, Wilson, Bolton, Ann WhatsHerName and Rat Romney have made a career out of that tactic. The cable networks love public figures who are willing to trash Trump.

Maybe DeSnake Hiss already achieved what he wanted and he’s hanging in there long enough to get his paycheck from Golden Sacks etc. Being the former governor of a large state is the ticket to lucrative business as a Trump-hater.

BTW, DeSantis wearing ear buds for a video talk suits him perfectly. He can parrot what the donors want him to say in real-time — and nobody knows the better.

I haven’t seen much of our governor down here in Florida this year. He’s getting paid to do a job. I think the people of Florida are sorry they believed his promises that he would remain Governor when he was running for re-election. He showed that he is disloyal and too ambitious.
We are wondering if that “good governor “ was all performative to use his conservative record to run for president?

You make a valid point. DeSantis might have lasted longer if he had done as you suggest. But either way, he was still going to have a hard time convincing people that his performance as governor demonstrated greater executive and leadership ability than Trump’s performance as president. And if DeSantis went too far down that road it would eventually lead to him criticizing Trump for things like not completing the wall, and bad hires etc.

In fact, that’s exactly where DeSantis ended up going, and it was his downfall for a number of reasons, not the least being that it required him to ignore all the obstructionism that Trump faced and that he didn’t. In short, it made him look small (no pun intended) and petty.
