“Anti-Unconstitutional Government” only becomes “Anti-Government” when the when the government acts in violation of the Constitution of the United States which is intended to limit their power.
I have some strings of white Christmas lights on the bushes in my front yard. They’re hooked up to light sensing switches. They are year round but they were put up a couple of Christmases ago. No halloween stuff but I will hand out non sugary treats to kids if they come to the door. That’s about the extent of my Halloween involvement.
[The end can’t come soon enough, seems to be the message]
Some keep trying to accelerate it.
Yesterday I drove through a small town in PA and saw two separate houses with 12-ft skeletons on the front lawns. Elsewhere there was a house I passed with a coffin, an 8-ft Grim Reaper in front...and a garage with little 3-ft skeletons hanging from the windows, as if trying to storm the place. Home Depot sells horse skeletons, rotted pumpkins, life-sized zombie children. Meanwhile the Thanksgiving Day decorations are meager in comparison.
However, I wouldn't elevate the responsibility to a zeitgeist. People are simply more shallow these days, and they have an appetite for weirdness, shock and dazzle because the entertainment industry has fed them little else. GIGO.
There is no spirit left to make a spirit of the times.
I visited the Spirit Halloween store looking for costume bits for my daughters Monster Hunter (urban fantasy by Larry Correia) get up. As I walked around I wondered when I finally found Halloween to be meh, bordering on distasteful and utterly ridiculous. It was like walking around in the linen section of a department store. no interest in what I was seeing at all. not going to ruin it for kiddos, they deserve their fun too, even if it is trunk or treats at school and church.
“Supposedly hard-up working-class people go all-out constructing Halloween shrines to the totem figures of decay and death, as in some depraved cargo cult competition aimed at hastening our country’s descent into chaos.”
I don’t disagree at all. I am never not surprised at the filth and degradation this American culture wallows in. Halloween. Gangster rap music. NFL kneelers. BLM. LBQT influence everywhere. Democrat party. Transvestite madness in schools, bathrooms and sports. It seems like it never ends. But it will end one day, we all know that.
For Kevin McCarthy, Dead Man’s Party was prophetic this year.
Methinks this fellow reads too much into Halloween decorations.
Kunstler did a nice job laying out the current U.S. sorry state. The Country lies comatose as the demons get ready to party on their national holiday.

It is a stacked deck when you have the left wanting to exterminate the species and the faithful praying for the second coming and destruction of man.
Excellent article! The government wants to disarm us after 247 yrs 'cuz they
(s) nully, who has a neighbor with five 12' tall skeletons in his yard...
At no point in history has any government ever wanted its people to be defenseless for any good reason

Once again, I like to return Halloween to its origins as part of the three day holiday of Allhallowtide. I am on the side that disagrees with any connection to the pagan holiday of Samhain.

Basically, Halloween, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day.
On All Hallows’ Eve (Halloween), some believe that the veil between the material world and the afterlife thinned. In order to prevent recognition by a soul, “people would don masks or costumes to disguise their identities”. Especially important for young children, as souls are attracted to them as they are full of life.
In the southwestern US, especially, Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos), tends to be celebrated as much or more than Halloween.
