Federal prosecutors and FBI agents have significantly widened the investigation into President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents, according to ABC News.
Prosecutors and agents from Special Counsel Robert Hur’s office have interviewed as many as 100 witnesses, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and have examined internal White House processes during the past nine months, according to the outlet. Some interviews were conducted as late as mid-September, and some interviewees have even been asked to return for a follow-up interview.
Authorities have reportedly gathered information regarding Biden’s alleged carelessness in the handling of classified material during his time as vice president, ABC News reported. The witnesses reportedly said the removal of the documents appeared to be a mistake rather than criminal activity.
In the course of the investigation, Hur’s office has been accessing and investigating documents dating back to the early days of former President Barack Obama’s administration and Biden’s tenure in the Senate, according to ABC News.
Witnesses have reportedly been questioned about Biden and his aides’ internal procedures for handling classified material, especially where Biden stored documents, notecards and briefing books, ABC News reported.
They have also accessed email chains dating back to 2010 and have asked witnesses for context and have reportedly asked witnesses about the use of safes and cabinets, per the outlet.
Biden’s lawyers found ten classified documents at the University of Pennsylvania’s Biden Penn Center on Nov. 2, leading to an FBI search. More documents were found at his private home in Delaware on Dec. 20, Jan. 11, Jan. 12 and Jan. 20.
Biden’s attorneys did not announce the discovery of the first tranche of documents until January, though they initially discovered them just ten days before the 2022 midterm elections.
Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Hur as special counsel on Jan. 12 to investigate whether the president mishandled the classified documents.
Both Biden and Blinken said they were “surprised” to learn of the classified documents being in his private possession when reports first surfaced in January. The president, along with his administration, defended the storage of classified documents by arguing that he and his legal counsel are fully cooperating with the FBI.

FBI searched The Biden Center at the U of Penn in November after classified documents were discovered. The Washington think tank was searched in mid-November, sources said, after Biden’s lawyers discovered classified documents there on Nov. 2.
WASHINGTON — The FBI searched the offices of the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in mid-November after classified documents were discovered there, two senior law enforcement officials confirmed Tuesday.
The officials said that President Joe Biden’s lawyers cooperated with the search and that no search warrants were used. NBC News does not know the exact date of the search or whether classified documents or anything else of importance were found. The FBI search was first reported by CBS News.
Biden’s lawyers originally found some classified documents at the Penn Biden Center in an office used by the president on Nov. 2. Biden’s lawyers said they immediately notified the Justice Department and the National Archives about what was discovered.

Neither the White House nor Biden’s personal lawyers had previously divulged information about the FBI’s search in November. The FBI also searched Biden’s residence in Wilmington, Delaware, this month after his lawyers offered to provide access to his home.
As a result of that search, six more items, including documents with classified markings, were found in Biden’s Delaware home, said Bob Bauer, his personal attorney.
The documents at the Wilmington home appeared to be related to Biden’s time as vice president, Bauer said, as well as to his tenure in the Senate, and they were found after Biden’s counsel offered full access to the premises.
A pair of Republican-led committees in the House are investigating Biden’s handling of classified documents, and Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel to lead the federal government’s probe.
In early January, a White House lawyer revealed the discovery of “a small number of documents” with classified markings at the Penn Biden Center in November, just a few days before the midterm elections. Biden’s attorneys found them in a locked closet as they prepared to vacate office space at the Penn Biden Center.
Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump has been under investigation over his possession of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Last summer, FBI agents executed a search warrant and uncovered more than 100 documents with classification markings, including some marked top secret. In December, it was reported that two more documents with classified markings had been found in a Florida storage facility not far from Trump’s Palm Beach resort and turned over to the FBI.
After it was reported that classified documents had been in Biden’s possession, former Vice President Mike Pence asked outside counsel this month to look for records bearing classified markings at his home in Indiana. Pence’s lawyers said a “small number” were found.
Some stored in China town for a reason?
An obvious reason…
Why do I suspect absolutely nothing will come of this “investigation”.
“The witnesses reportedly said the removal of the documents appeared to be a mistake rather than criminal activity.”
Trumps keeps material for Presidential library and is a Criminal, Biden with 19 boxes is not, who was never President, is not. Trump did it willfully, Biden it was a Total Accident...just like Hillary Clinton. Obviously, intent matters for FBI/DOJ prosecution, not if your Conservative or not, ROFLOL
I have one question: DID ANYBODY CHECK TO SEE IF THOSE 19 BOXES OF CLASSIFIED MATERIALS AND BRIEFINGS END UP IN HUNTER BIDEN EMAILS?
If true, then intent is clear. It’s called ESPIONAGE.
because it won’t..................
In other words. The FBI thugs are cleaning up the mess, intimidating witnesses, fabricating evidence showing Biden is clean, collecting and destroying evidence showing his criminality, and letting every one know they will be destroyed if they dare go against the evil pedo in the White House. Just ask Seth Rich....
I think they are stuck with the chomo because he will bring the whole house of cards down if he goes. They will push him in to a second term to protect themselves by protecting the chomo.
Indeed
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Don’t know if there is such a magazine as bigger Crimes And Treason but if so I’m sure a story of Biden will be in at some point.
Not holding my breath on this.
“Mistakes were made...”
The panacea for all DC pols............................
I don't know about that. The Deep State is corrupt and fears Trump will have an agenda of going after them for treason. If they have to sacrifice Pedo Joe to make the Trump document story look legitimate, I think they would do it in a second. They can cheat in the election to get just another corrupt democRAT elected that is just as good (meaning bad) as Joe. If Trump runs, they may not be as be able to cheat believably enough to win.
awww it was just a widdle boo boo he didnt mean to have all that stuff in his garage..it was just a widdle wee mistake..gee can Trump use that same excuse too
Just more to sweep under the rug…
Obviously, they are done with Biden - have been for months.
So, to be “fair”, and before they send Trump to ADX Florence, they are going after Biden - kill two birds with one stone, as it were.
