Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When a vehicle is captured and then lost in service with its new owners, it is only added as a loss of the original operator to avoid double listings. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it's not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

Calling someone a RuZZian on FR is considered an insult.
Calling someone a Comrade on FR is considered an insult.

Summarizing this war:

A tragedy for Ukraine.
A disaster for RuZZia.
A strategic win for the USA. The biggest winner of the war.

“More than three decades after Reagan left office, most Republicans still believe that America is a force for good.”

“Western Estimates of Russian Military Capabilities and the Invasion of Ukraine”

“ABSTRACT
The poor performance of the Russian military during the invasion of Ukraine came as a surprise to many in the West. This prompted a debate about why Russian capabilities had been overestimated. Fingers were pointed at the work of Western military analysts who, in the eyes of some critics, had based their estimates almost entirely on numbers and technology, resulting in mistaken predictions of a quick and decisive Russian victory. It has since been suggested that changes to the practices of Western military analysis are required if similar future failures are to be avoided. This article takes stock of this debate, proposing that the reasons for Western overestimates of Russian military capabilities and the lessons to be learned from this are far more complex than suggested by the critics. Discussing the political nature of military assessments and defense debates, the problems inherent in military analysis, and the difficulties associated with predicting outcomes in war, it concludes that laying blame for overestimates of Russian military power on Western experts is a fallacy. Expectations of achieving accurate future military assessments by refining the analytical base need to be tempered.”

“Budget Drones Prove Their Value in a Billion-Dollar War”

“A fleet of inexpensive, mostly off-the-shelf drones is helping Ukrainian forces evade and target sophisticated Russian air defense systems.”

“They are made of plastic or plastic foam, weigh only a few pounds and are often launched simply by having a soldier throw them into the air, as if tossing a javelin.

In a slow-moving counteroffensive against Russian forces that has been reliant at times on the smallest advantages, a fleet of cheap, mostly off-the-shelf drones is providing one for the Ukrainians.

The drones have begun to make a difference in one corner of a stagnant war, soldiers, commanders and pilots said in interviews, because their different materials and variable frequencies can evade enemy jamming systems. That has allowed them to venture farther in searches for enemy artillery positions and multimillion-dollar air defense systems, all while risking aircraft worth only a few thousand dollars apiece.”

“A year and a half later, Metinvest has supplied more than 250 decoy weapons and pieces of equipment to Ukrainian troops across the frontline. A senior specialist, who also asked to remain nameless for security reasons, says they can now produce about 10 to 15 items per month.”

Loving it...

“Russia Plans Huge Defense Spending Hike in 2024 as War Drags On”

“Budget sees defense spending at 6% of GDP from 3.9% now”

“Secret spending to nearly double as Kremlin avoids scrutiny”

“Russia plans a massive increase in defense spending next year as President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine continues to remake its economy and alter funding priorities.

Defense spending will comprise 6% of the country’s gross domestic product in 2024, up from 3.9% in 2023 and 2.7% in 2021, according to draft budget plans seen by Bloomberg News. Secret expenditure on classified or unspecified items is forecast to nearly double as the Kremlin continues to try to avoid scrutiny of the war’s impact.

The evolution of Russia’s wartime budget shows the government’s shifting priorities amid the fighting that’s exacting a heavy financial toll with no end in sight. Defense outlays are planned to overtake social spending next year even as the Kremlin is gearing up for presidential elections in March, and at a time when the economy is under pressure from unprecedented international sanctions.”

A rather ugly and stupid way at looking at it. The biggest winner by far is the nation which is sitting by and growing rich while the West depletes its military and economic strength: China.

China is already claiming Russian territory, and Russia is so weak it can only grovel in response.

The Soviet apologists on FR sicken and disgust me. To think that formerly patriotic Americans could be so manipulated by foreign governments! Yes, we taunted a savage dog until he pulled his chains loose. But he is nonetheless a savage dog.

At the same time, Ukraine did everything it possibly could to delegitimize its dominion over Crimea, and Poroshenko conducted his war with the Donbas in such a way that the Donbas could never be reintegrated into Ukraine. There is no justice demanding in demanding the Donbas or Crimea be returned to Ukraine.

It is time to make peace.

30%! Something going to break.

“Classified expenditures will rise to 11.1 trillion rubles from 6.5 trillion for 2023. That would represent 30% of total budget spending, doubling the secret share since the all-time low of 14.9% in 2021.”

How long until they hug and make up?

“Polish President Duda Appeals for Calm in Tensions With Ukraine”

“Poland’s President Andrzej Duda called for de-escalation of a dispute with Ukraine, saying it shouldn’t overshadow economic cooperation between the two nations.

“I don’t believe that one political and legal dispute can ruin the achievements you’ve made,” Duda told a Polish-Ukrainian business summit in Poznan on Friday. “I have no doubt that the dispute over the supply of grain is a small fraction of what constitutes Polish-Ukrainian relations and it shouldn’t affect them in any real way.””
