This year was also a massive increase from the year prior. This year, just the death payouts to the families of the fallen is on track to exceed what was Russia’s Defense budget, just a few years ago.
Gas sales to Europe used to be enough to cover Russia’s Defense spending, but they are now gone, and Defense expenditures overall have grown a few times over.
And that just includes expenses they claim for military spending, as well as other spending actually on war under different name
