Two big questions (and lots of little ones) are on my mind today.
The first big one is, how often is a bill practically unanimous in a state legislature?
There’s a bill in California that seeks to ban driverless trucks over 10,000 lbs. Since cargo trucks can usually weigh as much as 80,000 lbs total (that’s counting everything – the vehicle, the cargo, the driver, a full tank of fuel, etc.), this bill covers everything from straight trucks to semi-trailers and similar big rigs.
The ban – through at least 2031 – passed the state assembly in Sacramento back in May, 69 to 4. It passed the state senate on Monday, Sept. 11, 2023, with a vote of 36 to 2.
Polling has indicated that the public supports the ban by a factor of three to one. Gov. Gavin Newsom, a man who hopes to be president someday soon, is reportedly opposed to the ban, and everyone is watching to see if he dares veto it or if he’ll accept the overwhelming public will, and sign it anyway.
One wonders why a politician might support the driverless truck industry...

Why not. It’s the land of fruits and nuts…
Driverless.
Heck, the country is led by a guy who is brainless.
So if they are registered as DRIVERS in California, will the automatically get a ballot to vote in the elections. It will be obvious that A.I Robots vote in the next election.
I worked in the produce industry for a minute so that expression has a double meaning for me…
Well, makes sense. The data on driverless vehicles indicates they have surpassed people in their safety record already. And there are major cost savings to be had with driverless trucks. So of course California does the stupid thing and bans them, ceding yet another area to other states for technological leadership. By the time they have them driverless trucks will be commonplace everywhere else.
“Gov. Gavin Newsom, a man who hopes to be president someday soon,...
I can see the ads already about Kalifornia, endless homeless sickening streets, needles and poo smell everywhere, illegals en masse, electric cars on fire, the list is endless. Trump will squash him, it will be glorious to watch him squirm.
And there are major cost savings to be had with driverless trucks.
That cost saving NEVER makes it to the consumer, it is always sent to shareholders as “earnings.
Prices continue to climb, while production costs go down.
Eventually this will break, and then the elites will have their mass die-off.
