We all know what an October Surprise is. It’s when a rival campaign or supporter releases information about an opponent at a point in October. The idea is to release the skeleton or some other damaging information at a point when it’s too late for the opposing candidate to recover, giving the candidate whose team released the information a clear path to victory. Always feared, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t.
As the number of inane indictments of Trump demonstrates, the Democrats will do virtually anything to keep Donald Trump from ever again occupying the White House and threatening the Swamp’s grip on the throats of the American people.
I don’t, however, think a traditional October Surprise is much of a danger in this election. Why would Democrats wait until the last minute to release some exquisite horror that will send Trump packing? They wouldn’t. The fact that they haven’t released such a campaign-killing bit of information already means that they simply don’t have one.
As such, the Democrats are in trouble. Between having a guy who electrifies crowds like no one in American history on the other side and their presumptive nominee being a doddering Alzheimer’s patient they really have two problems to solve, not one.
One wonders if there is not some constitutional answer to their quandary… I think there is.
Now, I can’t suggest this would be successful, but I can guarantee that it would set the political universe of the “Rich Men North of Richmond,” on their heads.
The solution for the Democrats lies in the 22nd Amendment. Here is the relevant language: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.”
This language offers Democrats the opportunity to eliminate both of their problems at the same time. Now, of course, it has risks, may be legally or constitutionally impossible, and has the potential to send the nation into chaos or a civil war, but as we’ve seen, none of those things is a barrier to Democrats doing anything, legal, illegal or unconscionable in order to win.
So how does the 22nd Amendment offer the Democrats a way out of the morass they find themselves in? Simple: Make Donald Trump president again. Essentially this would involve Democrats revealing (admitting, really) that, after an unprecedented national investigation of the 2020 election, it turns out that, shockingly, Donald Trump was right and the election was tainted. He did, in fact, win the 2020 election.
Check out the language of the Amendment. It says: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice…” It doesn’t require that the person has actually served as president for two terms. It literally only states that a person cannot be elected more than twice, without regard for whether he served in the position.
So, in one action, Democrats can eliminate both of their problems. The first and most consequential is to keep the feared Donald Trump from running again. The second is to send Brandon to the sidelines, having undermined the only reason he’s even thought of by a single American, which is that he sits in the Oval Office.
But, you say, “That’s crazy! That’s impossible. There’s nothing in the Constitution that would allow such a thing!” True, but then there’s nothing in it to prohibit it, either. And as we know, the Democrats are willing to do anything, constitutional or otherwise, if it will bring them power. This is particularly true with a Supreme Court led by the lion from the Wizard of Oz.
Proof of such is legion. Think how the IRS and DOJ eviscerated the First Amendment, the government obliterated Chrysler creditors’ contract rights during the last financial meltdown, and the DOJ being weaponized against private citizens.
There are cultural attacks, too. For more than 2,000 years of Western civilization, marriage was one man and one woman. Thanks to the Democrats, that’s no longer true. There’s dude in a dress, “Rachel” Levine, who’s the Assistant Secretary for Health. He insists that he’s a woman, and the government agrees with him, while anyone who points out the obvious is castigated. Today, governments across the country are not only allowing prepubescent children to be butchered by predatory doctors and rapacious hospitals, but some are paying for it and doing it without parental consent.
There’s literally nothing the Democrats wouldn’t do for power…

The thing with Trump is, they threw the kitchen sink at him in 2016-17 and he still beat their ass.
They have nothing left. Ironically, he literally is the cleanest president, except for Reagan, since perhaps Hayes.
I’ve wondered that too.
Trump has not been convicted of any insurrection act.
Since he hasn’t been convicted of anything, legally speaking, there is no legal way or reason to invoke the 14th amendment.
So I have wondered the mechanics of how this could work. Election officials in any state can’t just say, well, Trump committed an insurrection in our opinion, so he can’t run for office.
Yup, the rats in Colorado and Arizona are gearing up "me too" campaigns to tie President Trump up, with more legal challenges.
No.
So, they’ll try unconstitutionally
And the US congress may adopt a resolution that Trump did incite an insurrection on J6.
Thereby violating the 14th Amendment.
Therefore making hin constitutionally unfit to serve.
It’s also been speculated that the GOP might actually block Trump from being the Republican candidate.
As I say - there are a thousand ways Trump can be defeated.
GOP does that, they are dead.

Admitting the 2020 election was tainted e.g. stolen, the Democrats would have the problem of the American people demanding justice with the perpetrators being indicted, convicted and punished and the entire election process be secured. That would mean pretty much the leadership of the Democratic Party would be indicted and left with no means to steal future elections.
That said, the Democrats see Trump’s reelction would be a bloodbath in the swamp with Trump bringing the avenging angel of death. Given this existential threat Democrats are willing to do anything to keep that from happening. I believe that even Trump’s assassination is not being considered in some leftist circles.

NO ONE has even been CHARGED with insurrection. Legally speaking, IMHO, that is the end of the line for this.
I love it. All they have to do is to admit that they stole the 2020 election and that Donald J. Trump won. Therefore, everything done by Biden has been fraudulent and illegal including all his appointments of judges and cabinet members. Therefore, all January 6th defendants become merely overexuberant celebrators, Ashli Babbitt was murdered, etc,
Ah, but the one thing that the dems cannot account for is the write in vote
If the Dems think it’s necessary, they will kill him. They probably already have a contingency plan.
If the Democrats tried to do this, it would then undermine the Georgia indictments regarding fake electors. Those electors would now become the true electors and the electors who voted in 2020 would be the true fake electors.
I would then expect that pressure be put on Georgia DA Fani Willis to withdraw her indictments and then indict the Democrat electors under the same terms that she indicted the Republican electors.
If she refuses, then she would be proving the partisan nature of the charges against President Trump. This would then blow back to Jack Smith, and all the others who had charged President Trump.
In truth, a scheme like this cannot work since it's the Electoral College that votes for the President and they voted. If the Electors were fraudulently selected, it doesn't matter since the Constitution lets the states choose the method of selecting electors, the governor signed off on the selection of electors, and Mike Pence presided over Congress approving the Electoral College vote.
That horse is long out of the barn.

The dems have thought of that, I'm sure.
I am seeing a restart of the COVID panic of 2020, and it makes me uneasy. I know a lot of people won't participate this time -- won't mask up or get a booster (I won't) -- but that's not the real purpose of the panic, IMHO.
I believe that if the polls show the Dems will be voted out of power, they'll try to close all polling locations to the public. The excuse will be to avoid spreading the plague, of course.
If they succeed, election 2024 will be Mail-in ballots only, and no poll watchers. The dem vote machine worked in 2020 and they'll use it again, you can count on it. So write in whoever you like, it won't be counted. Biden (or whoever replaces him on the ballot) will get another 81 million or 100 million, or however many it takes to win.
Republicans will cry foul. The public will know or suspect the election was again stolen, but of course there'll be no actual proof. So get used to it -- as long as it works, why would the Dems do anything different?
I believe to a moral certainty that the 2020 election was stolen from DJT by illicit means, with no more that an aggregate total of 33,000-55,000 votes in 5 or 6 key states.
My question with regard to this issue is, by what legal and constitutional authority would this decree be formally established and declared? Would it be by judicial, legislative, or executive auspices? Or merely an expression of the popular will?
The Kenyan got in. No problemo.
