I don't understand. History is strewn with the wreckage of Social experiments extending back several hundred years, from the Fabian Socialists, New Harmony, Walden, to modern-day Venezuela, and not one has ever persisted. People like Drabinski have sufficient hubris to think they are smarter than anyone in the past 300 years and they will "do it right". When are you economic illiterates going to learn there is no "right" way to do Socialism? It's doomed to failure by its basic premise that people are not motivated by self-interest and the desire to "get ahead". Instead, everyone is forced to sink to the lowest common denominator in the society. The American Dream is not to be the same as everyone else around you.

I remember the fact that ALA praised Castro as he murdered and/or imprisoned thousands of librarians

If socialists understood economics, they wouldn’t be socialists.
Every one of these effete socialists imagine themselves as the commissar of poetry and dance. They never see themselves mucking out a stable.

When I was in Library School they were very adamant that libraries were non-political, balanced, and broad. One professor even went to far as to say, “We want to offend everyone, not just 1/2 the people.”
This ideologue should be removed from office.

Have been for many decades...

Not to put too fine a point on it; but saw this today and thought of our conversation the other day. All our assumptions about what should be in American libraries, like being a safe place for children, or a politically neutral zone offering many points of view? Gone by the wayside.
