Yvonne De Carlo was born on the 1st of September, 1922, in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Universal Pictures producer Walter Wanger described her as "the most beautiful girl in the world."
In the New York times, Bosley Crowther wrote of her performance in "Salome, Where She Danced" (1945): "Miss De Carlo has an agreeable mezzo-soprano singing voice, all the 'looks' one girl could ask for, and, moreover, she dances with a sensuousness which must have caused the Hays office some anguish."
De Carlo said: “I’m all for men and I think they ought to stay up there and be the bosses, and have women wait on them hand and foot and put their slippers on and hand them the pipe and serve seven-course meals; as long as they open the door, support the woman, and do their duty in the bedroom, et cetera.”
De Carlo was an active Republican who campaigned for Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford.

Which Marilyn? There were three in the ‘60s version (TV and movie):
Beverley Owen (1964),
Pat Priest (1964–1966),
Debbie Watson (1966)
Of course, they were all lovely, just like the various Billy Jo Bradleys in Petticoat Junction.
Blondes!
(I married one, too!)

Standards were different back then, and with all that makeup, who knows what they really looked like?
I prefer Hedy Lamarr, at least you knew you could have an interesting conversation with her.

"It's not Hedy. It's Hedley, Hedley Lamarr!"
"The hell are you worried about?!?! This is 1874. You'll be able to sue her!"
Sorry, I could not resist.

"I prefer Hedy Lamarr, at least you knew you could have an interesting conversation with her." I'm more the Gina Lollobrigada type. If you haven't seen her in the movie "Solomon and Sheba" you're missing her at her best.

Nice.
But I’m an Ava Gardner kind of guy.
Particularly luscious in her worldly woman look in “Night of the Iguana” 1964

My ex wife looked a lot like young Yvonne. Ah well....Same "ethnic" hair as she referred to it when she didn't straighten it and let go back to its natural curly glory.

Yvonne was quite pretty in her early pictures with her youth and slim figure. Not so much as she filled out. But I do enjoy her work.
