We don’t know the whole story of why this guy all of the sudden became popular.
We know it was a totally forced meme, that every single shill conservative influencer posted the same day.
But it’s unclear how aware of this Oliver actually was – according to the story, someone came to him and offered to produce the song for him.
New York Post:
The men south of Richmond were on a high when viral phenomenon Oliver Anthony made a surprise appearance at a street festival here Saturday night.
Anthony’s “Rich Men North of Richmond” has rocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, propelling a once-unknown songwriter from south-central Virginia onto the national stage.
But he’s staying close to his roots.
He opened his Rock the Block festival appearance by reading a Bible verse to the crowd of about 350 locals then said, “Despite what you’ve been reading on the Internet, this song still rings true,” and launched into his first song, “Ain’t Got a Dollar.”
His life has changed since he first sang its lyric “I ain’t gotta dollar, But I don’t need a dime,” with his estimated earnings now as high as $40,000 a day.
You give a guy $40,000 a day, he’s going to do what he’s told to do.
The number of people who will fight for anything at all in the face of that kind of money is less than 1 in 10,000, and probably even less than that.
I think that number is probably accurate. He won’t make it for a year. Most number one songs track for a few weeks—with one or two at the top spot.
The money comes from fees on streaming, actual sales, appearances, etc. What is different about this guy is that he doesn’t seem to have the normal infrastructure associated with him—management, record labels, etc. This means that he doesn’t dilute his gross with many people—aside from the government.
A number one hit will earn millions in income over the next year or so. This guy could be playing every country fair for the twenty years—and sing that one song.
It’s a big world and when you get a piece of every transaction…that adds up quickly these days. Just his You Tube plays are going to make him wealthy for years to come.
The democrats sure hate the message of that song. And republicans are also bitter towards hun for not genuflecting and telling them how North of Richmond Repubs are blameless heroes, championing what he is singing about. The music industry doesn’t like him because he doesn’t race down to “autotune studios” and make new country.
So he has no friends except for normal people who like his songs.
Good for Oliver. Now put it to good use by reviving a small town’s economy so young people do not flee to the big city.
And he’s still not recanted his “diversity is our strength” comments. Anthony is a fraud and not one of us.
Funny.
This guy has talent. He wrote a couple of good songs. They caught on. And now he is making good money from them.
Congrats! Great News! good for him! He deserves it.
Because he did it himself, the press now want to destroy him.
Compare that to the way the press lavish praise and lionize a person that makes the same $$ from the Gov sponsored lotteries.
Yeah…it’s like he doesn’t know how hard McCarthy, McConnell and the rest of the GOPe and Fox News are working for us. How ungrateful. /s
I sure as hell would not want to be one of you.
Weird isn’t it how people who cheer every TRASH TRUMP book that hits the streets and they never mention the MONEY the so-called authors are making from the sales of such books.
Being cynical, believing in the worst of people and that it is their default, is the norm for leftists. It’s how they think because it’s who THEY are.
Heaven forbid this guy is just saying it like it is, he wrote music for his mental health, and his words resonate with many people because they’re true. In response to this success, he reads the Bible when he performs.
For this they don’t just dislike him, they despise him. Envy, jealously, hate, all directed at him. How dare some hillbilly simpleton make so much money?
You give a writer $40,000 a year, he’s going to cut and paste from the mockingbird memo what he’s told to do.
Oliver Anthony music, love it or leave it. I ain’t hatin’ on dude. Freedom to achieve, that’s what America’s about ain’t it?
“...as high as $40,000 a day...” but they leave out the “as low as $0”. I mean, it’s purely speculation to say that someone could be making a specific amount of money, if there’s no actual evidence of that amount being made.
And who cares really? Shouldn’t people be able to earn money? Or is earning money only allowed for those that are anointed by the woke libtarded media giants and the crooked idiot in the White House?
He has a couple of songs. They ring true. People connect with them. That’s all that matters.
.
I went through a design review with Dave Packard. Afterwards my boss asked, ‘Do you realize that during the hour you spent with Dave that he made about $100K in interest?’ Mike had a way of putting things in perspective.
Which has jack all to do with my point about the headline.
I don’t know Oliver Anthony. But based on his own presentation, he strikes me as a normie who’s fed up with Washington D.C.
And you know how many normies believe “diversity is a strength”?
A lot, I’d reckon.
“The guy could be playing every country fair for the next twenty years.”
He could be the next Lee Greenwood.
Yes...I was trying to think of his name. Exactly this.
We know it was a totally forced meme, that every single shill conservative influencer posted the same day.
These writers can shovel shit so well they should be working on horse farms.
As long as he earned the money legally, I care how much he makes.
