The Ghost of Kiev has been operating this whole time?
I guess the Ukraine is going to have an even harder time winning with this guy gone.
Really a shame he died in a training exercise.
That must be super embarrassing for his family.
New York Post:
Three Ukrainian pilots, including a well-known MiG-29 pilot who went by the call sign “Juice” and was part of a unit known as “Ghost of Kyiv,” died in a plane crash over the weekend.
Two L-39 combat trainer aircraft collided in the sky near the city of Zhytomyr, about 87 miles west of Kyiv, on Friday, resulting in the deaths of three pilots, the Ukrainian Air Force wrote on X, previously known as Twitter.
“Among the dead is a pilot with the call sign ‘JUICE.’” the statement continued. “We express out condolences to the families of the victims.”
During his nightly video address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky — who is counting on crews to quickly be trained to fly F-16 fighter jets — confirmed the news.
OJ finally got his due.
New call sign “Splat”
I must admit, I originally laughed at this; but upon reflection, felt sad for a man who, like many other warriors before him, was fighting not for the politicians but for his fellow soldiers, family, country.
RIP.
Not a knock against you, McGruff. You have a wickedly funny sense of humor.
The longer this goes on, the more I’m liking the voluntary disarmament of the US military, and it’s handmaidens in NATO. Shortly, the American patriots will be the only ppl with weapons.
The sound a burger patty makes when it hits the grill at the local diner...
I’ve heard that the two aircraft got into a dogfight over the English pronunciations of the pilots involved...
Clown Show time :)
Its reported he was killed by friendly-fire, when an errant pickle-jar, thrown by a Ukrainian grandmother, knocked out his engines. The incident is under investigation.
Thoughts and prayers?
So, now, he is a real Ghost?
So would his wingman’s call sign be “Oops”
Inaccurate headline. The article clearly identifies “Ghost of Kyiv” as the unit, not an individual.
I agree. This kind of thing just makes me sad for him and his family.
No news is credible from Ukraine.
