Thank you; it seemed like something we had all heard before and one was trying to figure out if it was a new suicide or an old one.
If they have no natural immunity to the diseases we are resistant to, then contacting them will destroy them all, just like happened to many Native Americans when the explorers brough diseases like chicken pox and small pox.
Completely wiped out whole tribes in horrible deaths.
Quite a fascinating (and sometimes scary) read at Wikipedia about those visiting.
All kinds of mixed reactions.
If no one knows the language of the North Sentinelese, how much preaching was going to go on? I mean, compared to grandstanding.,
Wow. Chilling.
I think it was Elizabeth who told the story about when she went back years later, she was playing beautiful Christian music on the record player (or similar). Some of the Indian people who had converted were there, too. When they heard the music they were shocked and she asked why. They said that when they were killing the men they heard that kind of sound coming from the sky.
More likely he would have spoken to them in their native tongue and offer them comfort. What happened after that would have been preordained by GOD.
This has been a very common fate of those bringing the message since Christianity began. Being a missionary isn’t all handing out clothing and teaching hymns .
I don’t understand the idea of leaving them alone in their primitive state. Don’t they deserve the benefits of the modern world? Couldn’t India airdrop them some decent clothing, food, matches, common utensils, and other things that would make their lives easier? They seem to treat these people like creatures in a zoo instead of human beings.
Thank you so much for the research and tips. I was unaware of these and this is not intuitive for me.
Thanks. I received some advice in another response. I try not to criticize because I love the site and I realize they run it on a shoestring and Jim has expensive health issues to deal with.
I’m all for missionaries, but this guy was just stupid.

Possibly. I have had no problems with the search function here.
If you are searching for entire headlines it will fail a lot. All it takes is one misstyped word.
I search by important words in the headline. In this instance. "killed" and "tribe" brings up all articles in descending order.

Apologies if you already know this stuff. Not trying to condescend.
It was just learning the hard way.
What they heard him say was “blab blab blab John, blab blab blab blab Jesus blab blab. He might have well been speaking in ancient Greek or Porpoise.
"I picked up the fish and threw it towards them. They kept coming. I paddled like I never have in my life back to the boat."
I think that if someone threw a fish at me, I might take that as a hostile act. Or maybe they just said in their native language which John didn’t understand, “So long and thanks for all the fish but get off our island”.
On another visit, John recorded in his diary that the islanders reacted to him with a mixture of amusement, bewilderment and hostility. He attempted to sing worship songs to them and spoke to them in Xhosa - a language spoken in Southern Africa.
So, John looked on Google maps and decided that South Africa was close enough that these people must speak that language? To quote Red Forman – “Dumbass”. And for what it’s worth, I think anyone forcing someone to listen to anyone singing worship songs (or what I like to call Jesus Is My Boyfriend music) against their will deserves an arrow to the chest.
According to John's last letter, when he tried to hand over fish and gifts, a boy shot a metal-headed arrow that pierced the Bible he was holding in front of his chest, so he retreated once more. On his final visit on November 17, he told the fishermen to leave him.
Maybe God was trying to tell John, “You get one get out jail free card but only one. After that you are on your own - dumbass.”
Right out of Monty Python.
To deflect media attention from the "Biden Crime Family", by reporting that this island voted 110% for Trump.
They voted via "Mail in Ballot".
Do the Amish deserve iPhones? Who are we to tell anyone what's beneficial and that they should have it?
