Mary Baker Eddy's religious clarity in English is beautiful:
"True prayer is not asking God for love; it is learning to love, and to include all mankind in one affection. Prayer is the utilization of the love wherewith He loves us."
"Reject hatred without hating."

We're getting somewhere.
In everything, but not of everything.
Maybe it is more than that.
The Creator is not the creation.
But that's not "omnipresence."
If the definition of omnipresence is being in every single atom, than God cannot be omnipresent, because not being of His creation eliminates omnipresence.
By definition, God is also not all-powerful. No matter how powerful God may be, I only need to add +1 to whatever God can do and I’ve created a metaphysical being that is more powerful than God.
However, for all practical purposes, because I can commune with God anytime and anywhere I wish and so can all the 8 billion other people, God is omnipresent. He’s just not inside the material of the material universe.
“When you have eliminated all fear, the patient is healed.” — Mary Baker Eddy
Of course, she got most of it from Phineas Parkhurst Quimby.
Exactly. It’s the extreme opposite of pagan — it’s monism, either pantheistic or panentheistic.
John 7:24 Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.
The Bereans were commended for using Scripture as they searched through it to see if what Paul was saying was so.
One cannot exercise discernment or any decision making without judging.
Every decision we make is based on making some kind of judgment about what we should do.
Spiritually, comparing a person's teaching to Scripture to see if those teachings line up is the right thing to do and commended by God.
Perhaps we need to reexamine or redefine the concept of "omnipresence".
No wonder Mary Baker Eddy was confused.
However, for all practical purposes, because I can commune with God anytime and anywhere I wish and so can all the 8 billion other people, God is omnipresent.
Great explanation. I agree wholeheartedly.
But that's not "omnipresence." For all we know, God could be at a call center in India, answering everyone's prayers simultaneously. His being accessible to all does not mean that he is everywhere at once.
You should post her full name:
Mary Baker Glover Patterson Eddy
Founder of a false religion, Cultist.
Very sad
Where in Scripture did she find that theology I wonder. Canyou provide us with the Scriptural references to support that contention?
In order to be Omnipresent, God would have to be Infinite. Infinite means without limit, without begging or end, without boundary. In which case, the Infinite is All There Is, and yes, the Infinite which we call God would then be everything, in everything, as everything, around everything, through and throughout everything. IOW, “there is no spot where God is not.”
And wasn’t it prophetic that Mary Baker Eddy hit the big time at the same time as the discovery that Typhoid Mary had infected thousands of people with her home cooked meals?
Two of the biggest tells of a religious cult:
1. They hide in the shadows because if people were to find out what they were really up to the public would persecute them BIG TIME.
2. Cults rely on more modern writers to “explain” what the governing document says. Not only do Christian Scientists teach from Eddy’s book, they alternate Eddy from Bible verses as if to say “No, that doesn’t mean what it obviously means. It means THIS instead.”
I believe panentheism is more accurate.
In pantheism, God and creation are identical. God is creation, creation is God.
In panenthiesm, to use the phraseology of Ernest Holmes, there is “one, indestructible, absolute and self-existent Cause. This One manifests Itself in and through all creation, but is not absorbed by Its creation.” Taht last phrase, “is not absorbed by its creation,” is the key difference between the two.
Yep, I heard that before. 😁😊😆👍
As I said, as long as I can conceive of a being that can do more than God, no matter what God can actually do, God is not the greatest or most powerful or omnipresent, because I can create a being that is +1 of anything that God can do.
However, if all 8 billion humans can commune with God at once and also every being of the universe can be in constant communion with God at once, how much more omnipresent does God need to be?
Wouldn’t that be Mary Baker Glover Patterson Eddy?
You are correct sir. 👍😆
Mary Baker Eddy teaches that Jesus is perfect and is going to make you rich and disease-free right here on earth. Her followers correctly surmise the negative form of that belief, that if you end up less than rich and healthy then you are an evil, Godless person.
.....a purely evil religion.
She was and is a heretic. Sorry but cults and cult leaders will burn.
She founded a cult.
Exactly. As I posted above, “there is no spot where God is not.”
