A dog's natural instinct is to chase cats, but in a hilarious turn of events caught on video, one dog defies that expectation. The video, titled "The dog said nope," has been making the rounds on Twitter.

There’s a new “Grumpy Cat” in town.
Smart dog, cats are jerks.
“...cats are jerks.”
It’s really their attitude, like: “I’m hot shit and so I don’t need you”.
Handsome kitty, you sure showed him.
Less than an hour ago, saw a good sized bobcat cruise through my back yard. I did not go out to cross in front of him.
We have cats and a small poodle.
Most cats are bullies. Many small dogs are cowards at heart.
In our backyard, neighborhood cats often walk the ciderblock wall. The dog races through the flap and barks her head off at them. Typically, the cat continues on his business and ignores the dog. One time though, a cat decided to jump right into our yard. Our dog, who had been barking up a storm, turned tail and ran into the house as fast as she could.
Yep. There’s a Churchill quote about dogs, cats, and pigs…
“I am fond of pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals.”
― Winston S. Churchill
There it is…
Cat’s are arrogant.
I once saw a comic strip in which a cat looked on in horror as a dog owner gave commands to his pet—”sit, roll over, heel, beg,” etc. The cat thought, “poor dog. He’ll never make it as a cat.
“Most cats are bullies. Many small dogs are cowards at heart.”
They definitely can be bullies, just like some humans. I had a tortoise shell cat once that mercilessly picked on our Boxer puppy. She loved attacking that poor pup. He, on the other hand, loved the play and attention... and didn’t realize he was being picked on. Well, Karma finally caught up with our cat. The dog grew and grew and grew until the dog towered over the cat, five or six times her size....
but still wanted to “play”.
My beloved Boxer was a gentle giant. We brought home a male kitten who loved to pounce and our Boxer, a female, was quite tolerant at first.
One day, when her patience was at an end, she put her mammoth paw on the kitten and held him down. She looked over at me and we caught eyes; she wasn’t hurting him, she was letting him know enough was enough. She kept him there until he settled down and eventually became passive, then she let him up. He stopped attacking her and became her buddy instead.
That cat loved my dog. He would curl up next to her to sleep and grieved when she died.
We love dogs and cats. They both bring a fun, different dynamic to the house. Watching them interact is amusing.
Big cat. Smart dog.
The cat was bigger than the dog. The dog didn’t convey a threat to the cat. If my dog (which would have been leashed by-the-way) approached, that cat would have given way, muy pronto! It’ all about signals. My dog’s demeanor would have signaled to the cat: “Hey cat I’m comin’. Get out of the way or I’m gonna tear you a new one!”
My kids had a beautiful white fluffy-haired female cat named Beatrice Jane, or—as we soon started calling her—BJ.
When still a kitten, a friend of my kids thought it would be cute to toss BJ in our pool. Luckily, I saw them do it, and quickly snatched the poor little critter out of the water, dried her off, and snuggled her in my lap until she was ready hop down and get a drink of water.
After that, every night when I went to bed, BJ would lie on my pillow and purr softly while gently massaging my head with her paws. Every once in a while she’d dig her claws in a little too hard, but all I had to do was say “ouch”, and she’d go back to “massage mode”.
BJ died several years ago, but is fondly remembered as a sweet, gentle critter who was much loved and is greatly missed!

I have security cam footage of a cougar on my porch, just sniffin around. I showed the footage to my game warden BIL and he said it was an adolescent female. She’s appeared a few times on cam and she’s since grown. Beautiful cat but not something I want to mess with.
I adore cats. They are my favorite creature on planet earth. Dogs, second. Birds, third. And the only creatures I don’t like are the stinging, biting and “sucking” ones (no, not Democrats...lol...since I detest all of them).
My most loved cat died in 2009 of a Feline Injection Site Sarcoma, which the rabies vax caused. Ironic... I thought I was doing something good for the fur baby by getting her vaccinated every year. Lesson learned.
That’s priceless. Thanks for sharing.
Dogs have masters.
Cats have staff.
Twas ever thus.
And I, for one, welcome our feline overlords!
