I was on the admission committee at a well-known university in the 1970’s. Our job was to consider applicants who failed to meet university admissions standards, “but have other factors to consider”. In almost all cases, that meant race. We admitted students who should never have been admitted. I told the committee that we were just taking their money for one semester and then they’d be gone. I’d guess that was the correct assessment for 95% of the students we accepted.
You can argue: At least you gave them a chance. Did we, though? I think we deluded them and took their money. Reverse discrimination is no better than just pure discrimination in this case because they were financially less well-off after the experience. Was one semester worth it for them. I doubt it.
Quotas on anything—race, sex, barrels of oil—is almost always a bad idea.

So it’s 2023, and the SCOTUS has decided that racism is unconstitutional! The next thing you know, they’ll say you can’t lock people up or destroy their livelihood for saying something you don’t like! And mothers who attend school board meetings aren’t really terrorists! Amazing!
