Last year a massive study on the happiness of high school seniors was published. The study looked at 86,138 high school seniors from 2005-2018. It found that unhappiness was on the rise among these students:
Some other trends do appear. Men are happier than women, conservatives are happier than liberals, and ideology matters more than gender. Remember, we’re not looking at the same people as they’re aging. We’re looking at groups of 12th graders over time. The gap between conservatives and liberals has widened. That’s mainly because 12th grade female liberals are become unhappier faster than others at that age.
This isn’t a one-off thing among high schoolers. There’s been a happiness gap between conservatives and liberals across all age groups and over many decades. The General Social Survey (GSS) has been conducted in America every year or two since 1972. Republicans have always been happier than Democrats. Regardless of which party was in power.

The reason why Leftists, in general, are never happy is because, literally, NONE of their great ideas end in nothing but misery and suffering.
They are unhappy because of any number of things. The sole main reason is others appear to be doing better than they are and they feel its unfair.
Underlying major category reasons:
They are unattractive (or werem but aren’t anymore) and do not get the perks and bennies the world undeservedly gives to more attractive people, so they tzke it out on others.
They are less lintelligent and cannot use their brains to make their lives better, so they take it out on others.
They made poor life choices but duck personal blame, so they take it out on others.
They have no idea what their purpose is in life and feel unfulfilled, have no idea how to figure it out probably because they aren’t smart enough to, and so they take it out on others.
They use things that happened to them, or things in the past that didn’t happen to them personally, as excuses for their failings and why they can’t get ahead, compartmentalize the anger they feel about themselves, and take it out on others.
Their values and what they think is important, are out of proportion and/or misguided or just flat wrong, and this is a source of conflict and internal stress they can’t get away from, and they take it out on others.
They realize they are just a little person even though they act like a big deal, and this is a source of internal conflict and stress they can’t get away from, and they take it out on others.
Men will always be happier than women. Women will find a way to complain about anything. If theres nothing to complain about, they will complain about that.
Leftists live in lies and suffer constantly from cognitive dissonance and the consciousness of bad faith.
Conservatives are sometimes wrong. (Even I once made a mistake, in 1973 iirc.) But they are usually not lying to themselves.
Their piss poor decisions make everybody else unhappy.
