This is easily one of the most bizarre animal behaviors I have ever seen and most definitely the strangest behavior from a squirrel. You will definitely get the feeling that his squirrel is a comedian who works his playing dead shtick for maximum laughs. And when he gets bored with staying in the death mode, he performs a fresh encore for yet more laughs. This looks to be a flying squirrel, possibly domesticated, but I have most definitely never seen anything like this behavior in a squirrel before. Any animal behavior experts out there have an answer?
It is probably playing dead in hopes of not being eaten, because its’ trapped. Something like that.
PING!
Except the squirrel breaks out of playing dead mode several times in order to do encore performances. Almost like it gets bored and has to milk the act for new laughs.
My father and brother used to have flying squirrels as pets, but this does not look like any flying squirrel I have seen. To start with, it’s a black squirrel.
I’m not aware that squirrels are smart enough to form advanced enough thoughts to illicit laughs. He might be just trying to get attention or it might be instinctual.
Black flying squirrels are in Asia. So, this video is either in Russia or Malaysia or Indonesia.

Nah, he lays down and puts that broom handle over himself! In several different positions. What a drama king.
Squirrels are really clever but this is amazing.
Drama queen.
Many squirrels are but that is a tame one. We have fun with our outside squirrels.
the whooshing sound you hear is all the slip and fall lawyers whipping out business cards
I saw him put it on himself, but I figured that once he got it on himself that he couldn’t figure out how to get it off and was trapped.
So his trainer is a slip-and-fall shyster?
It's an Asian video.......
The squirrel was trying to do bench presses but no one was there to spot him......
Anyone recognize the language on the soundtrack?
The squirrel also sang "Nessun Dorma" as good as Pavarotti but no one was around to record that either.
That is great!
I’m going to keep my eyes out on squirrels. They may be nature’s hidden comedians of the animal world.
Its the cool metal he likes to feel on his body.
