Kayleigh McEnany in 2015: Illegal Aliens ‘Here to Stay’, Deportation ‘Not the American Way’

Kayleigh McEnany was a Never Trumper and open borders supporter during her time working for CNN.
Former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany backed open borders and amnesty for illegal aliens on CNN in 2015, telling Don Lemon that illegals are “here to stay” and that deportation is “not the American way” as she bashed the border hawk policies of then-candidate Donald Trump.
Kayleigh McEnany served as a token Republican on CNN before her time with the Trump White House and took up the mantle of Never Trumpism and Koch Brothers-style open borders during her time on air. Now, a video compilation has emerged documenting some of McEnany’s worst CNN moments, going viral on Twitter in the aftermath of her falling out with President Trump; which comes after McEnany, now with Fox News and apparently trying to nudge along the DeSantis campaign, minimized Trump’s lead over DeSantis in the 2024 primary polls.
“The mainstream Republican does not want to send the illegal immigrants back to Mexico,” McEnany told Don Lemon in 2015. “I think that they’re here to stay, that’s not the American way. We’re not going to ship people across the border. There has to be some path to citizenship.”
“Donald Trump has shown himself to be a showman,” McEnany added later in the same Lemon appearance.
“I don’t think he’s a serious candidate.”
In another CNN appearance in a Lemon-led panel discussion, McEnany slammed Trump as a “progressive” and said that she doesn’t “want to claim this guy” as a Republican.
Hilariously, the panel was discussing a CNN GOP Primary poll conducted between June 18th and 24th, 2015, which showed Jeb Bush leading the entire GOP field and future President Trump in second place.
“This is not a true Republican candidate,” McEnany said of Trump. “And the fact that he’s being portrayed as such in media is troublesome and not accurate.”
Watch the video below:
McEnany’s transformation from an open-borders Never Trumper at CNN to a Trump White House Press Secretary to a pro-DeSantis anchor at Fox News could be compared to the evolution of another young female news anchor, CNN’s Kaitlan Collins.
In 2015, when McEnany worked as CNN’s token Republican panelist, Collins was working at The Daily Caller and joined a Fox News program to spout off anti-Soros talking points, warning that Soros was using open borders to replace Western populations.
Like McEnany, Collins has since made a major transformation and is now one of pro-Soros CNN’s most visible anchors.

Even with the dated reference, this should clear-up in some people's minds where McEnany is coming from.

Then why did President Trump hire her?

It’s amazing how many people he hired that he now regards as incompetent or opposed to his agenda or both.
He seems to be a very poor judge of potential personnel.

Deportation ‘Not the American Way’
—
It was good enough for Eisenhower & its good enough today - deport the lot. Cheaper than keeping them.

Reminds me of the saying: When in Rome, do as the Romans.

Then why did President Trump hire her?
Don't know.
Why does it matter?
Maybe it was based on a recommendation by Pence.
But it does seem that this is an episode once a NeverTrumper, always a NeverTrump.
And like most DeSanctimonious supporters, the complaints she has about Trump, are superficial at best, or twisted or non-truths, really nothing of real substance, or like your post, based on suppositions, half-truths, or lacking in context.

Would’ve been better to just let it be.

Common DeSanctimonious Supporter False Narrative.
Somehow, President Trump is supposed to know everything about everyone, and even if those in his innermost circle are giving him bad advice about Nominees or Cabinent Members, he is supposed to always get it right.
You'd think that DeSanctimonious Supporters think President Trump is Perfect like Jesus by the standard they hold him to.
Meanwhile, nary a peep where DeSanctimonious Campaign staff and Donators, and Endorsers are concerned even though they are part of the GOP-E / Globalist Cabal.
Strange, isn't it?!?!

So she understates Trump’s poll numbers in a passing comment, Trump and his thin skin responds like a baby, and now she’s on the hit list.
This is ridiculous…

Kayleigh did a great job as Press Spokesperson.
Do u disagree?
But her personal opinions are wrong.

Follow the money.
She’s a professional.
She works for money and advancing her career.
Does anyone think that there’s ANYONE in America who would go to Washington and work for ideals and principles rather than the highest bidder?
If you think that, then study the most recent House vote on raising the debt ceiling.

Because he was left with an incredibly small pool to choose from.
His signature campaign promise was to brink in “killers” from Wall Street.
But when elected, people willing to work with him were immediately subjected to rectal exams, street terror in restaurants and their homes, and often lifetime freeze outs from their chosen career fields. Others were immediately targeted for ruinous lawfare attacks and criminal probes from the blob.
Next, for Senate confirmed positions, McConnell refused to allow the Senate to go into recess for his entire Presidency. He recessed for Obama, but not for Trump. This prevented recess appointments.
So Trump was left with a vanishingly small pool from which to choose. He literally had to choose several military Generals for posts at State, Chief of Staff, etc.
The FBI and CIA from day one infested his White House with spies. He also tried to avoid them by picking people known to his family.
Immediately Michael Flynn was a Russian spy and under criminal investigation. Over half of his economic business advisory council resigned as the DC organized “resistance” went after each member with direct threats of boycotts.
So all of you whining about his picks are either disingenuous or badly uninformed. A well oiled street and legal terror campaign stopped him from having the support of the people he wanted.
