Hollywood great Clint Eastwood, who was born this date in 1930, is a softly-spoken icon of modern Western masculinity.

Here are some of his wonderful words:

“Let’s not go and ruin it by thinking too much.”

“If you want a guarantee, buy a toaster.”

"They say all marriages are made in heaven, but so are thunder and lightning.”

“Man becomes his most creative during war.”

“There’s a rebel lying deep in my soul.”

God Bless Clint Eastwood

Yup, I like him. Him and Charles Bronson.

I like Clint, but catchphrases are not wisdom.

One of my favorite sayings that I use almost daily is “a man’s gotta know his limitations.” Sure, it’s actually from Harry Callahan, but Clint played the role so well, it’s like they’re the same person.

Sure they are “and that’s the bottom line ‘cause “Stone Cold said so”. :)

My two are from “Unforgiven”.

“Deserve’s got nothing to do with it.”

“Well, we all got it comin’ to us kid.”

(Not sure how accurate those quotes are!)

Mine too. Along with (included in the script twice) “I’m a writer!” ... “What, letters and such?”

See my tagline. Came up with it myself. It IS true, eventually.

Absolutely true. Also, from the same movie, one of my favorite film moments: when Callahan emerges from the diner to stop the bank robbery and yells “Halt!” as one of the robbers emerges from the bank, a little bit of the hot dog he was eating goes flying in the air. Gotta love the realism...

I always thought the dialogue at the end of "The Outlaw Josey Wales", where Clint's lead character is speaking with Comanche chief Ten Bears, was one of the best moments in cinema.
