I’ve made that point repeatedly to only Trumpers. They don’t care. Trump or nothing. God forbid, Trump could die of a heart attack and they would still write his name in.
You have to wonder who is pushing him to jump into the race when he has no shot. Rove, Jeb Bush, Ryan and the Globalist crowd on the “right” seem to be the nearest suspects. He should have just continued being Governor and wait his turn. The spotlight is on DeSantis and what and millions have learned is he co-opts others messages as his own.
I have been on FR for a long time and I have never seen more hostile reactions to candidates declaring that they are seeking the Republican nomination. Everyone who wants to run should run - whether its Trump, DeSantis, Scott, Haley - whoever. Some, like Scott and Haley, have zero chance of winning. But so what? Let them run. When it comes to Trump and DeSantis, let them debate and see how it plays out. If we based who got the nomination on who was ahead at this point in the race, the party would have nominated Rudy Giuliani, Rick Perry, Scott Walker and Jeb Bush over the past five cycles.

At least with Trump I know what I’m getting with him, flaws and all. If DeSantis wins the nomination it will badly split the GOP. Not that I would be complaining if an RDS nomination brings about the demise of the hapless Republican Party.
I wonder if the GOPe is purposely backing DeSantis with the purpose of splitting the GOP so badly as to send it to a massive defeat in 2024, and knocking both Trump and DeSantis out along with the populist and conservative elements of the party. That way the globalists can regain full power of the Republican Party and relegate it to minority status for perpetuity while enjoying the full benefits of being the lesser half of the Deep State. I think all of us who support either Trump or RDS are being set up in a circular firing squad to destroy each other as the globalists raise their glasses and laugh their rich butts off as the country heads off the cliff!
That’s my take.
I also wondered if this was Elon Musk’s way of undermining Ron Desantis - even if he has plausible deniability (ie. your suggestion of a holdover engineer). While Musk has distanced himself somewhat from his connection to the Great Reset crowd, he still is in their league. Maybe Tucker Carlson might want to have a back-up plan for his new Twitter show as an insurance policy?
