France Yellow Vests Week 234: Macron's Government Fights Left And Right With Jabs Both Ways, Anti-Macron Protests Continue

May Day is a traditional day of Leftist and Labor Union protests in France.

But this year the demonstrations amplified by opposition to President Emmanuel Macron's imposition of pension reform without legislative approval.

2.3 million people protesting nationwide according to the CGT labor union federation while the Ministry of the Interior says the number was less than a million.

The government and the mainstream media didn't make much of the peaceful nature of the huge crowds but chose to seize upon January 6th style incidents of vandalism involving the usual suspects black uniformed anarchists.

Arrests and injuries to police highlighted in the coverage.

The drumbeat about those incidents from the government and media led to word later in the week saying the government was considering legislation to criminalize the construction of barricades during protests...

Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin took a swipe at the 'far-right" government in Italy Thursday telling RMC (Radio Monte Carlo) that the government of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was:

"Far right....incapable of resolving migration problems"...

National Rally leader Marine Le Pen chose May Day for a speech to a rally in Le Havre where she said Macron was running down France...

Today in Paris the weekly protest of the Yellow Vests demonstrators speaking as they arrive.

The protest continued throughout Saturday afternoon a crowd of hundreds at least participating and they were still marching after 6pm in Paris...

And speaking of those "Pots and Pans" protests another "Concert of Pots and Pans" in Azay-Le-Rideau southwest of Paris today...
