Audrey Hepburn: She Sizzled 1950's Style Without Degraded Destructiveness As One Of Bogart's Babes

Audrey Hepburn was born on the 4th of May, 1929, the daughter of a baron and baroness. She was Belgian royalty who became Hollywood’s equivalent: a much loved movie star, one of Bogie’s many great babes.
She was nominated for 6 Oscars and won two. Her other major awards were: 3 BAFTA's, 1 Emmy, 2 Golden Globes, 1 Grammy, 1 Screen Actors Guild Award and 2 Tony's.
That's modern royalty. Not inherited, but earned by hard work and intelligence, proved by her Hank Williams-like human-centered mastery of the English language in statements such as:
“I was born with an enormous need for affection, and a terrible need to give it.”
“For me the only things of interest are those linked to the heart.”
“The best thing to hold on to in life is each other.”
“I don’t need a bedroom to prove my womanliness. I can convey just as much sex appeal picking apples off a tree or standing in the rain.”
“People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed and redeemed. Never throw out anyone.”
I love these words.
God Bless Audrey Hepburn.

'Wait until Dark' wasn't Hitchcock. I recall Alan Arkin being interviewed about the movie and why he was passed over for an Oscar nomination. He said, "You don't get an Oscar for scaring the daylights out of Audrey Hepburn."
Very memorable film. Well done.

'Wait until Dark' wasn't Hitchcock. I did NOT state it was a Hitchcock movie.
I stated: "A very suspenseful movie ala Hitchcock."

The only thing I know about Audrey Hepburn is what I saw of her in Breakfast At Tiffany's. Any guy who sees the first 5 minutes...or maybe 10 minutes...of that film and doesn't fall desperately in love with her needs a giant injection of testosterone!
I regularly visit NYC and on a couple of occasions I've made it a point to visit the place on East 71st St that she enters during the second scene (after the pastry in front of Tiffany's). It still looks exactly like it did 60 years ago.

Such a completely different world these days-— the style and class of Hepburn (both of them...), Grace Kelly, etc., were mainstays of a civil society.

This is sexy. Thank you.
The oven and the apple pie are not the reasons for that.

Maybe you’re thinking of Hedy Lamarr. Hedy helped invent a radio guidance system for torpedos.
