I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video I will tell you what happened on the four hundred and twenty sixth day of the war.

Day 426: April 25

Russian forces have been devoting considerable resources to the flanks in order to take control of the trenches in front of the Khromove highway. However, some formations refused to cooperate with Wagner forces, leading to an immediate successful counterattack by Ukrainians, which caused a massive feud inside the Russian Army.

Last time I told you that Ukrainian and Russian forces had prolonged and brutal clashes in the trenches in front of the Khromove highway. I also told you that in the aftermath of the last counterattack, Ukrainians managed to reestablish control over the trenches between the highway and the field road.

The freshest reports indicate that Russians did not give up on their attempts to establish physical control over the road. Recent geolocated footage showed that Russians started using tanks to support their infantry in field attacks. Unfortunately for Russians, Ukrainian artillery delivered a direct hit from the second attempt and instantly destroyed it. Ukrainian drone operators also recently released a video showing how they were targeting Russian units northeast of Bohdanivka. They detected a small reconnaissance group and destroyed it with a kamikaze drone.

In the meantime, the Ukrainian fighters from the elite 3rd Assault Brigade continued storming Russian positions in the trenches. The combat footage revealed that Ukrainians were heavily relying on drone operators. The operation started with a sudden drone attack on the Russians. During the first stage of the operation, Ukrainians just used grenade-dropping drones and very quickly inflicted huge losses on unsuspecting Russians who were either sleeping or digging in. After that, several armored vehicles delivered the infantry, which immediately jumped into the trenches and initiated close combat fighting. In order to reduce the risk, Ukrainians heavily relied on drone operators who communicated the situation behind the corners. This also allowed Ukrainians to throw grenades very effectively, as they would immediately receive a correction or a confirmation from the drone operator. During the most challenging parts of the mission, Ukrainians also used kamikaze drones. Such a guided explosive helped to hit a dynamic target quickly and precisely. The assault was extremely swift, and it looked like Russians simply did not have enough time to receive artillery support. As a result, Ukrainians left behind dozens of Russian corpses in the trenches.

Other footage indicates that Russians are trying to expand the area of operation and overwhelm Ukrainians forces by attacking them simultaneously along the whole Khromove line, and even started attacking Khromove itself. Considering the current setting, the Ukrainian Command decided to blow up the pontoon bridge between Khromove and Bakhmut in order to limit Russian possibilities in the case of similar rapid front-line shifts in this region.

In the meantime, the Wagner Group started being augmented not only by conventional Russian troops but also by other private military companies, in particular, PMC Redut. This PMC has reportedly taken over responsibility for the newly captured by Wagner forces positions, highly likely somewhere near Khromove. Unfortunately for Wagners, PMC Redut did not follow Wagner’s orders and allowed Ukrainian forces to recapture the area. What is interesting is that PMC Redut was created by Gazprom but is subordinate to the Russian Ministry of Defense, which is why it may not have followed the order on purpose.

This caused an instant and harsh backlash from Prigozhin, who said that completely inept micro-PMCs are undermining the whole Wagner operation. As Russian forces get more and more confident about securing Bakhmut, the question of who is going to take the credit started rapidly arising and brought back intense competition and internal politics. If different elements of the Russian army continue competing for who is going to participate in the decisive mission, and reluctant units keep abandoing their positions on the flanks, expecting someone else to step up, then Ukrainians can exploit the weakening of the Russian grip on Bakhmut, prolong the battle and drain Russian resources for longer, and possibly even find a weak spot in the less protected flanks, and undo months of Russian efforts by penetrating Russian defenses.

Ukraine attacked Russia’s main naval base in Crimea with exploding sea drones, the city’s Russian governor said
24 apr 2023
https://www.businessinsider.nl/ukraine-attacked-russias-main-naval-base-in-crimea-with-exploding-sea-drones-the-citys-russian-governor-said/

-Russia says Ukrainian sea drones attacked its main naval base in Crimea on Monday morning.
-The Moscow-appointed governor of Sevastopol in Crimea said the attack happened at 3:30 a.m.
-No one was injured in the attack, and Ukrainian officials have not commented on it.

The Russian governor of the largest city in Crimea says that Ukrainian forces attacked Russia’s main naval base in the region using exploding sea drones on Monday morning.
Mikhail Razvozhayev, the Moscow-appointed governor of Sevastopol in Crimea, said on Telegram Monday morning that the attack on the naval base in Sevastopol started at 3:30 a.m. He said that Russian forces destroyed one sea drone and that a second drone exploded on its own.

No one was injured in the attack, Razvozhayev said, adding that the incident happened in the harbor off of Sevastopol and that the drones didn’t make their way into Streletskaya Bay.

He said the blast from the drone’s explosion broke windows on four residential buildings, and he ordered Vice-Governor Evgeny Sergeevich Gorlov to manage the damage.

“Now the city is quiet,” Razvozhayev said. “But all forces and services are in a state of combat readiness.”
Ukrainian officials have not commented on the attack, though Reuters reported that Ukraine doesn’t usually claim responsibility for attacks on Sevastopol, which is internationally recognized as part of Ukraine but was annexed along with the rest of the Crimean peninsula by Russia in 2014.

Russian officials have accused Ukraine of carrying out multiple attacks on Sevastopol since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

In July, Russia claimed a drone attack on its Black Sea fleet headquarters in Sevastopol injured six people. At the time, Ukraine denied responsibility for the attack.

Good news

Here’s an interesting Ukrainian’s history of Ukraine:

“Ukraine’s capital Kyiv was once the heart of Kyivan Rus, the most powerful medieval state in Eastern Europe. It was ruled by the Rurik dynasty, believed to be founded by Norsemen who traded and raided along the rivers of the region.

Internal strife would gradually tear the Kyivan Rus apart until a Mongol invasion in the middle of the 13th century finally destroyed it. It left behind successor states, such as Galicia-Volhynia, which Poland absorbed in 1349. Another successor state would become the Grand Duchy of Muscovy, the center of the future Russian Empire....”

Half the history.

The Rurik dynasty started in Novgorod. The offspring was the Keivan Rus.

The word “RUS” is root for the Swede/Finnish Norse word “people who row” so get your history corrected.

Founders are the Rurik dynasty first Rus at Novgorod and then comes Kievan Rus.

"My biggest fear about Ukraine isn't Ruzzia."

And we know that the Russians have been exploiting that fear through their agents in the West.

Russia is still losing 500 soldiers a day in Ukraine even after reducing its casualties by 30%, UK intel says

https://news.yahoo.com/russia-still-losing-500-soldiers-112458025.html

-Russia’s daily casualties are likely down 30% in April, compared to March, UK intelligence said.

-But Russia is still likely suffering around 500 casualties a day, the UK Ministry of Defence said.

-It comes as Russia is “preparing for anticipated Ukrainian offensive operations,” it added.

Russia’s daily casualty figures have fallen by around 30%, as it moves to a more defensive posture, but it’s still likely losing more than 500 soldiers a day in Ukraine, according to new UK intelligence.

The UK Ministry of Defence said in an intelligence update on Tuesday that Russia’s daily average casualty rate likely fell by around 30% in April, compared to March figures.

In March, the country was losing an estimated 776 soldiers a day, which dropped to 568 in April, it said.

MORE COMPLETE INFO:

Rurik Dynasty, princes of Kievan Rus and, LATER, Muscovy who, according to tradition, were descendants of the Varangian prince Rurik, who had been invited by the people of Novgorod to rule that city (c. 862); the Rurik princes maintained their control over Kievan Rus and, later, Muscovy until 1598.

Rurik’s successor Oleg (d. 912) conquered Kiev (c. 882) and established control of the trade route extending from Novgorod, along the Dnieper River, to the Black Sea. Igor (allegedly Rurik’s son; reigned 912–945) and his successors—his wife, St. Olga (regent 945–969), and their son Svyatoslav (reigned 945–972)—further extended their territories; Svyatoslav’s son Vladimir I (St. Vladimir; reigned c. 980–1015) consolidated the dynasty’s rule.

Vladimir compiled the first KIEVAN RUS LAW CODE and introduced Christianity into the country. He also organized the Kievan Rus lands into a cohesive confederation by distributing the major cities among his sons; the eldest was to be grand prince of KIEV, and the brothers were to succeed each other, moving up the hierarchy of cities toward KIEV, filling vacancies left by the advancement or death of an elder brother.

The youngest brother was to be succeeded as grand prince by his eldest nephew whose father had been a grand prince. This succession pattern was generally followed through the reigns of Svyatopolk (1015–19); Yaroslav the Wise (1019–54); his sons Izyaslav (1054–68; 1069–73; and 1077–78), Svyatoslav (1073–76), and Vsevolod (1078–93); and Svyatopolk II (son of Izyaslav; reigned 1093–1113).

The successions were accomplished, however, amid continual civil wars. In addition to the princes’ unwillingness to adhere to the pattern and readiness to seize their positions by force instead, the system was upset whenever a CITY REJECTED the prince designated to rule it. It was also undermined by the tendency of the princes to settle in regions they ruled rather than move from city to city to become the prince of Kiev.

In 1097 all the princes of Kievan Rus met at Lyubech (northwest of Chernigov) and decided to divide their lands into patrimonial estates. The succession for grand prince, however, continued to be based on the generation pattern; thus, Vladimir Monomakh succeeded his cousin Svyatopolk II as grand prince of Kiev. During his reign (1113–25) Vladimir tried to restore unity to the lands of Kievan Rus; and his sons (Mstislav, reigned 1125–32; Yaropolk, 1132–39; Vyacheslav, 1139; and Yury Dolgoruky, 1149–57) succeeded him eventually, though not without some troubles in the 1140s.

Nevertheless, distinct branches of the dynasty established their own rule in the major centres of the country OUTSIDE Kiev—Halicz, Novgorod, and Suzdal. The princes of these regions vied with each other for control of KIEV; but when Andrew Bogolyubsky of Suzdal finally conquered and sacked the city (1169), he returned to Vladimir (a city in the Suzdal principality) and transferred the seat of the grand prince to Vladimir. Andrew Bogolyubsky’s brother Vsevolod III succeeded him as grand prince of Vladimir (reigned 1176–1212); Vsevolod was followed by his sons Yury (1212–38), Yaroslav (1238–46), and Svyatoslav (1246–47) and his grandson Andrew (1247–52).

Wonder what happens if the Russians start slapping their glide kits on their 9000kg (Aprox 20,000 lbs) of high explosives load bombs and drops them on “General P-P-Pianist” while he is shopping for the new summer season cammo stilettos?

Poor training and outdated equipment left Russia’s air force unable to help much in the invasion of Ukraine, study finds
Sophia Ankel
Apr 25, 2023, 11:11 AM EDT
https://www.businessinsider.com/russian-pilots-lack-basic-training-and-have-outdated-weapons-study-2023-4?op=1

Russian pilots have struggled to support their troops on the ground because of poor training and outdated equipment, according to a report published by the top British think tank Royal United Services Institute (RUSI).

The report, published this week, outlines the strengths and weaknesses of Russia’s air force in Ukraine based on a series of interviews with intelligence services, military experts, and Ukrainian air force commanders.

It found that one of Russia’s biggest failures in Ukraine since it first invaded in February last year is that its pilots have been unable to “provide dynamic close air support to Russian units on the battlefield.”

Supporting ground troops requires Russian pilots to fly at a very low altitude, which very few have been trained to do, the report found.

“Very few Russian fixed-wing pilots had significant training or currency for very low-altitude close air support in contested airspace, since this never formed part of their core training tasks before the invasion,” it said.

On top of this, some Russian aircrafts have “known deficiencies” with several sensors and weapons that disallow them from being able to effectively hit their targets, RUSI said. This includes Russian targeting systems and precision-guided munitions.

“Russia has not invested heavily in the sort of sensors, weapons, and pilot training that Western air forces have taken for granted after decades of counter-insurgency campaigns where airpower provided the majority of deployed joint force firepower,” the report added.

The Russian air force has lacked success since the start of its invasion mostly due to the resilience of Ukraine’s ground-to-air defense systems.

Ukraine has largely defended its skies with its own systems until October 2022 but is now mainly relying on Western-supplied weapons, including US Stinger missiles, the report said.

Despite this, Russia still has lots of aircraft left, which could put additional stress on Ukraine’s air defenses, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin warned earlier this year.

“We do know that Russia has a substantial number of aircraft in its inventory and a lot of capability left,” Austin said. “We need to do everything that we can to get Ukraine as much air defense capability as we possibly can.”
