At this point, does it really matter?
Asking for a FRiend....
Grand Hotel is a great movie. Both Barrymore brothers, Garbo, Joan Crawford, what great stars, 1932 - Berlin.
You can not get more American then that.
Ninotchka. Great movie, Melvyn Douglas was outstanding.

One of the final scenes from Garbo Talks... great movie with Anne Bancroft. Entire scene was done in one take.
As I recall, she spent her post-Hollywood days in New York City in an apartment of her choosing. She was often seen in Art galleries, taking in the mis-en-scene, and she enjoyed a cup of coffee with friends in small little frequented restaurants.
So she’s been dead for what, 30 years and what’s the big mystery. Unless of course it’s because it appears you’re trying to get website hits? If you’ve got something to say about her, add it to your original post. Otherwise, please don’t try to sell your wares on a political website, it smells too much like spam.
Humblegunner, are you back in the saddle?
I think asking questions about what it is to be American is an OK thing to do on Free Republic, which is primarily but not wholely and solely political.
Irish Guard, what are you guarding?
#metoo ??????
but that clearly is unAmerican
Arnold Schwarzenegger is still a nazi with an accent
Why are you behaving like a democrat?
Garbo took the citizenship oath in February, 1951.
The movie where “Greta Garbo Smiled” (or laughed- can’t remember which they said now)- I believe that is how they promoted the movie-
Arnold Schwarzenegger is still a nazi with an accent
Not only that, but he wasn’t too bright either and fit right in with the rest of the LEFT COAST.
“Grand Hotel, People come, people go..nothing ever happens…”
Maybe, but his self esteem was tuned to maximum.
