Does the [US: "State" (News/Activism)] Block on the "My Page Layout" Page Work for Anyone?

Just trying to update my FR Forum Page to show a different "State" in the sidebar. Does this feature still work for anyone else?

Anyone have any recent success in changing to a different state? Everything else on the "My Page Layout" works as advertised just not the "State" field.

Just go Account at the top bar of the FR main page, then Locale and make your change.

*If you try to change to Texas, you may be prompted to provide a Birth Certificate.

I do not see a "State (News/Activism)" option. If you mean "Locale Message", from what I have seen, that only shows up once, when there there is a new message to "State/locale message boards" (https://freerepublic.com/focus/my/ follow link to https://freerepublic.com/perl/profiles) and a registered site user that has a state/local region set has not seen the new messages yet. It is similar to logging off and logging on and having new comments or mail that is not yet read.

That's the way I understand it, hope it was not too confusing.

I think I may be grandfathered in, but I had the option to select a state: US: Virginia (News/Activism), but I cannot change to another state. Guess I’m stuck with Virginia.

Maybe this will work (🤞):

1. https://freerepublic.com/perl/profiles to set state or region profiles.
2. Click on [Set My Location]
3. This is the page to edit your homepage. Under where it says "Location" there is a drop down menu to set the state or region.
 If my guess is right, you should see "Virginia" selected in the drop down box, select the drop down menu, scroll down and change location.

If that fails, you could private message Jim or John Robinson about it.
John wrote most of the code for the current format of the forum.

Go to Free Republic home page (tap icon on upper left corner of Forum page, or just www.freerepublic.com)

At top of FR home page, select “My Account”

On My Account page, scroll down to 5th item - “My Locale” - and follow the instructions to set or change your state.

Select "Account," select "Manage Blocks" option, which displays the "My Page Layout" page which then displays the below (for me):

Block - Region - Weight - Color - Size

The above are some of my selected fields for displaying topics on my "Forum" page. I am trying to change the US: Virginia (News/Activism) field to US: South Carolina (News/Activism) so that it displays news articles on my "Forum" page along the right margin that are linked to "South Carolina" instead of "Virginia."

No. None of the text is live. No drop down options on the text, but there are for the fields: “Region,” “Weight,” “Color” and for the “Size” fields which aren’t labeled “Default.”

I guess this is an old feature that is no longer supported and can't be modified.
