You don’t seem to understand what we’ve done.
The M1A1 is also lighter than the M1A2 — may be helpful...
You must have posted that in connection with U.N. Peacekeepers.
Posting failure.
Another posting failure.
God Bless your nephew, and please thank him for his service.
My brother was in Vietnam '66-'67 with the 25th Infantry Division. He was a completely different person when he came home, mentally, and physically. He died in 1995 at the young age of 51 from a massive heart attack. Left a widow and four kids.
Bakhmut is encircled. All roads in and out of it are under Russian artillery fire.
###
Meanwhile other encirclement has taken place in Avdiivka
Avdiivka is strongly fortified. Its coke plant is a strong-point. The Ukrainian army used the city to lob artillery into Donetsk city. But attempts to seize it were largely unsuccessful. Two week ago the situation suddenly changed. The Russian airforce started to bomb Avdiivka with heavy glide bombs. At the same time an operations was launched to envelope the city from two directions.
An east to west move north of Avdiivka cut the rail access to the city. Russian forces crossed the railroad and moved further west. Fighting is currently ongoing in Berdychi. South of Berdychi is Orlovka, a road crossing point (O0542, C015801, C015802) that is for now the only real supply route left for Avdiivka.
In the southwest of Avdiivka the Russian forces moved northward. They are currently trying to capture Siverne. The first progress there was stopped when on March 12 the Ukrainian 36th Marine Brigade was placed in the area.
Armed reconnaissance has also taken place into the southwest area of Avdiivka city which is made up of high rises.
The distance between the Russian positions in the southwest and in the northwest of Avdiivka is 8 kilometer (5 miles). That is sufficiently narrow for Russian artillery to interdict road traffic that goes through the area in between.
The landscape around Avdiivka is mostly featureless. There are a few slag hills that rise about 50 meter above their surrounding flatland. But they can be easily covered by artillery and are thus not really helpful for either side.
This is now the second Ukrainian held area on the Donetsk front that is in operational encirclement. In both areas the Russian follow Sun Tzu's advice to not completely close off an encirclement but to leave a route out. This prevents fanatical defenses by encircled troops or it may even lead the enemy to push more forces into a hopeless position.
If the Ukrainian military had plans to relieve Bakhmut with a counterattack it now has to think of the additional problem that the encirclement of Avdiivka brings. Should it start there? Should it split the forces it had accumulated and planned to use for the counterattack in Bakhmut and start a parallel one in Avdiivka? Should it give up on one or both cities? Those are difficult decisions.
I find it likely that the Russian attacks on Bakhmut were halted after the Avdiivka development succeeded to give the Ukraine military enough time to make an error.
I've been to three wars, one world fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and I can only guess at what that headline might mean, and the blatant stupidity of it cured me of all interest in watching the video.

Russians are continuing their attempts to capture Avdiivka in Donetsk region. The Ukrainian military say that recently “the escalation has been felt” in this area. The Russians are trying to surround the city after a year of unsuccessful attempts to break through the Ukrainian defense.
Gunners of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade are helping the infantry to repel these attacks.
At the beginning of February of 2023, hromadske filmed the unit that now uses the RM-70 Vampire multiple rocket launcher system, the Czechoslovakian analog of Soviet-made Grads. Gunners of the Brigade received this MLRS system as part of the help from Western allies.

Ukraine’s Armed Forces strike Russian warehouse and 2 anti-aircraft systems – General Staff report
Ukrainska Pravda

Quote: “Over the course of the past 24 hours, Air Force of defence forces hit five clusters of invaders, and our Rocket Forces and Artillery units struck a warehouse, two anti-aircraft systems, a radar station and another important enemy target.”
Details: Russia continues its armed aggression against Ukraine, focusing its primary efforts on attempts to occupy Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts within the administrative borders completely. Russian forces continue to conduct offensive operations on the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Marinka, and Shakhtars’k fronts. The fiercest battles in and near Bakhmut and on the Avdiivka front continue.
The Russians continue to use their typical tactics of terrorising the civilian population, shelling residential areas and critical infrastructure targets.
Over the course of the past 24 hours, Russians carried out four missile and 24 air strikes and also launched over 30 strikes, using multiple launcher rocket systems.

No significant changes have been reported on theVolyn, Polissia, Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts; no Russian offensive groups have been detected.
The Russian leadership continues to use the infrastructure of Belarus to train its troops. The occupiers maintain a military presence in the border areas. During the day, Russians shelled the areas of Hrinivka and Mykhalchyna Sloboda settlements in Chernihiv Oblast; Atynske, Iskryskivshchyna, Volfyne, Pavlivka and Popivka in Sumy oblast; Basove, Kozacha Lopan, Strilecha, Hlyboke, Vovchansk and Velykyi Burluk in Kharkiv Oblast.
On the Kupiansk and Lyman fronts, Russian troops continue to try to break Ukraine’s defences. Occupiers led unsuccessful offensive operations near Masyutivka, Novoselivske, Bilohorivka, and Verkhnokamianske settlements. Invaders deployed artillery to shell near Krasne Pershe, Dvorichna, Kupiansk, Krokhmalne and Berestove settlements in Kharkiv Oblast; Nevske and Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast, as well as Torske, Spirne and Fedorivka in Donetsk Oblast.
On the Bakhmut front, Russian troops continue their offensive operations, losing the offensive potential.
The occupiers do not stop trying to capture the city,
losing a significant amount of manpower, weapons and military equipment.
Ukraine’s defenders are repelling numerous attacks by the occupiers around the clock near Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka and in the northern part of Bakhmut. In particular, Vasyukivka, Minkivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Stupochky, Predtechyne, Chasiv Yar, Kurdyumivka, Ozaryanivka and Pivnichne in Donetsk Oblast came under Russian fire.
On the Avdiivka, Marinka and Shakhtars’k fronts, Russian troops had no success in carrying out offensive actions in the areas of settlements of Novobakhmutivka, Krasnohorivka, Avdiivka, Severne, Pervomaiske, Marinka and Pobeda. Areas of Lastochkyne, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Heorhiivka, Nevelske, Krasnohorivka, Marinka, and Vuhledar settlements in Donetsk Oblast came under Russian shelling.
On the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson fronts, Russian troops are in defensive positions. In particular, settlements near the contact line were shelled: Novopil in Donetsk region; Olhivske, Malynivka, Chervone, Charivne, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka and Novoandriivka in Zaporizhia Oblast, as well as Antonivka and the city of Kherson.
Despite the large number of victims, Russia does not give up the war of aggression and constantly takes measures to replenish its manpower. Thus, in one of the military units stationed in the Krasnodar Krai, military authorities force conscripts to sign contracts. Servicemen who agree to sign these are expected to go “on a trip” to Ukraine in August 2023.
