Sen. Bernie Sanders has blamed a Trump-era banking law for the Silicon Valley Bank's failure.
"Let's be clear. The failure of Silicon Valley Bank is a direct result of an absurd 2018 bank deregulation bill signed by Donald Trump that I strongly opposed," Sanders wrote in a statement on Sunday.
Sanders was referring to the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act, which former President Donald Trump signed into law in May 2018.

Well they had congress and the Presidency for the past 2 years and did nothing to “fix” it.
But reality is this bank was wasting money on ESG policies. And the bond market being screwed up by inflation and rising interest rates is what really caused this issue.

Here’s what I wonder about, when we see political statements such as this being made.
Bernie Sanders blames a Trump era law for this bank failure.
OK then, if the liberal view, is that this legislation was so bad, and would lead to banking problems, why didn’t Biden and the Democrat congress he had, repeal that legislation which is so offensive to Bernie and his ilk? If it’s so obvious that law was bad news, why didn’t Democrats pass legislation to correct this obvious problem???
Bernie is so yesterday.

Two questions:
1. Has there ever been a bank (or any other) regulation Bernie did not support?
2. Specifically how did moving SVB out of the “systemically important financial institution” classification result in its demise? (The article didn’t say.)
You thought the guy who owns three home and became a multimillionaire on the salary of an elected official was "a decent guy"?
And that is not even factoring in the fact he is an avowed socialist. He reeks of corruption.
