'Thanks to him, a great danger was averted,' says R. Meir Mazuz, dean of the K. Rahamim.
Mazuz argued, “prevented a very great danger,” referencing reports prior to Goldstein’s shooting at the Tomb of the Patriarchs of a planned Arab terror attack in Hebron. "The Arabs were bringing in axes and hiding them under the rugs in the Tomb of the Patriarchs, along with rifles, knives – there was a terrible danger at the time.”

Apparently, he gave his life to save others. If I read that correctly.
‘Apparently, he gave his life to save others. If I read that correctly.’

That is exactly what Mazuz says.
I’m sure Haaretz and the like will go on a smear campaign after snapping their biggest card against the Right.
He walked into a Mosque as they were conducting prayers and opened fire. He murdered 29 praying moslems and wounded a hundred more.
He was beaten to death at the scene.
This doesn’t really qualify as giving your life to save others.
He was a terrorist mass murderer. When he entered the area where they were praying he was wearing an IDF uniform so they would see him as a normal sight and not be alarmed before he could start his attack.
“I’m sure Haaretz and the like will go on a smear campaign after snapping their biggest card against the Right.”
How exactly do you smear a mass murdering terrorist? The US Government and the Israeli governments both classify his group as a terrorist organization.
Well, there’s two sides to every story. I wasn’t there so I cannot judge whether his intentions were noble or base. God will judge him (as will as the rest of us).
Yeah... you know, I pretty much can judge.
If you walk into a church or mosque, use deceit to gain an advantage, wait till everyone is bent over in prayer the way they do touching their heads to the floor, and you start tossing grenades at those unarmed people and open fire.
You’re a terrorist murderer. Glad the POS got beaten to death. There is probably no telling how many Israelis died in revenge attacks over the next decades, and how many new terrorists he created.
If you think that could have been an act of nobility, you need to check your moral compass.
Hebron should be part of Israel. It is a disgrace what the Socialist atheists like Ben Gurion and Dayan did.
DesertRhino.
If you remember that act, It came after Goldstein saw his INNOCENT friends getting murdered by Muslims in that very area. It effected his mental state. He was a doctor who treaded Arabs and Jews alike.
Rav Mazuz is the leader of the Tunisian Sefardic community. Unlike his European-descended Ashkenaz counterparts, he doesn’t suck up to secularism. He has denounced ‘pride parades’ and called Covid-19 a punishment from God, and mandated the covid mRNA vax for his students. He has no interest in being politically correct.
“He was a doctor who treaded Arabs and Jews alike.”
Actually, he didn’t. Israeli press reports claimed that Goldstein refused to treat Arabs, even Arab soldiers serving in the IDF, believing it was against Jewish laws to treat non-Jews even for payment.
And in any case, he wasn’t a mentally ill guy. He was a zealot member of a radical Jewish cult. He was basically in a Jewish version of ISIS.
Friends getting murdered is zero excuse for attacking a group of people in a church service. It’s amazing to see people making excuses for this New York clown.
“Israelipress” you mean Haaretzism?
Note, I’m not here to support his act. But all is not black amd white.

The argument that Dr. Goldstein knew about a major attack planned against the Jewish residents of Hebron, and pre-empted to harm the Arabs - is heard more than once in Hebron. A sort of miniaturized version of the Six Day War: not a massacre - but “the rose ip against - the one who comes to kill you”.
“You have to understand the chain of events,” claims the spokesman for the Jewish community, Noam Arnon, whose offices are next to the garden. “On the eve of Hanukkah, Mordechai Lapid and his son Shalom - the best friend of Baruch Goldstein and his son - were murdered. It broke him. Every morning there were headlines in the newspapers - ‘Hamas is planning a major attack in Hebron’. There were deafening warnings. Shaul Mofaz, then commander of Yosh, Two days before he arrived in Kiryat Arba and said: ‘There is going to be a big attack in the next few days. We cannot stop - we have instructions from the political echelon.’ Goldstein was told to prepare evacuation rooms for dozens of casualties. He fell into a mental crisis and came to the conclusion that he had no choice. Although I don’t think like him, he believed with all his heart that an act of revenge would prevent an attack.”....
A Muslim who converted: “Something went wrong with him”:
“At the time of the massacre, on the eve of Purim, I was still living in Jerusalem. I remember friends telling me that during the reading of a scroll on Thursday in Hebron, Arabs erupted and shouted ‘Allah is great, massacre a Jew - tomorrow there will be an attack’. At that point, Baruch Goldstein closed the scroll. He He came back in the morning, ready with cartridges. But apparently something went wrong with him. It wasn’t planned.”

The Arabs lynched Dr. Goldstein after disarming him..
Double standards regarding the treatment of Arabs and Jews in Israel. Immediately after the killing of Goldstein, an Arab mob took to the streets to carry out a revenge pogrom against the Jews of Hebron.

In October 1990, he saved the life of an Arab who had been injured by a Jew. He received a certificate of appreciation from the commanding medical officer of the Central Command, Aryeh Eldad, for his assistance in treatment.
