Former senior military intelligence officer Philip Ingram joins Sky News to look at both Ukrainian and Russian strategies in the city of Bakhmut, eastern Ukraine.
The city has become a pinch point in the war - which Mr Ingram suggests may be part of a bigger plan by Ukrainian forces to prepare for action “elsewhere”.
“ Russian soldiers are being ordered to fight Ukrainian forces with only “firearms and shovels,” said the UK’s Ministry of Defence.”

Apparently the rate of Russian shelling is down, and combat vehicles have become scarce. Russian attacks are more and more being conducted by infantry.
As for the casualty rates and the balance thereof, beware of wishful thinking.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has identified 171 victims of sexual violence by Russian troops, First Lady Olena Zelenska said at the United for Justice Conference in Lviv on March 4. The First Lady noted the number of sexual violence crimes perpetrated by Russian occupation troops in Ukraine, and that it indicates that such crimes are a deliberate policy of the Russian military.
‘This is their conscious and psychological weapon against Ukrainians. Condemning rape and other war crimes must set a precedent so that any potential aggressor knows that this will not go unpunished,’ Olena Zelenska said.
According to her, 119 criminal cases of sexual violence were reported against women, 39 against men, and 13 against minors during more than a year of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

I don’t follow or post propaganda. I wish you could acknowledge that both the people of Russia and Ukraine are suffering from this invasion by ‘mad-man’ Putin .
Putin has wanted to invade Ukraine since the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991. In August 1991 with a referendum three months later, on December 1, confirmed the decision overwhelming with: 84% turnout the overall majority of over 90% voted for independence of Ukraine. Kind of a slap in the face for Putin!
**Most significantly, the vote in those regions with a larger proportion of Russian-speakers also voted the same way: Odesa, 85% votes for independence, in Luhansk 83%, in Donetsk, 77% and in Crimea over 54%. This completely supports the desire for a separate Ukrainian population identity.
However, Putin chose to invade in 2014. Putin returned again to invade Ukraine in 2022.
ONLY Putin can STOP the invasion of Ukraine.
