That power used to be a power for good. Not so much anymore.

"That power used to be a power for good. Not so much anymore."

Maybe, but there is a certain insane bone inside the heads of some Americans which will only let them support their country if they think we are 100% morally or ethically pure as the driven snow.
To the contrary, the fact is, we don't have to be pure to be good, and we really only have to be better than our opponents.

And so far, I have not seen any potential rival who can claim to be "holier than thou" in the ideals we hold dearest -- certainly not Vlad the Invader or his Xi-snake senior partner.

"The Neocons are full of contradictions.
Russia, supposedly this horrible threat to the world, has a broken economy and is technologically insignificant.
They need to get their story straight!"

Current estimates are Russia has more nuclear warheads than the US (#2) and China (#3) combined.
And up until February 2021 Russia's military was assumed to be the second most powerful in the world.
Today that assumption has been discredited by many, however, some also notice that Russia has held back in reserve it's best units from Ukraine.
In essence, the Russians are fighting in Ukraine, just as we seem always to do, with one hand tied behind their backs.

The Russian economy is far from "broken", but it is being strategically reoriented away from dependence on Europe and America and more towards partnership with China, India and other Asian countries.

The key points to remember are that, first, a Russian victory in Ukraine will increase Russia's population and economy by about one third -- that is a huge increase and it means Vlad the Invader's next target country will face even more military and economic power.

Second, all of the arguments Vlad the Invader used to justify invading Ukraine also apply to several other former Soviet Empire countries, some of which are now members of NATO.
Success in Ukraine will only encourage Vlad to continue rebuilding the old Tsarist & Soviet empires.
And each success will make defeating Russia that much more difficult.

Navy Patriot: "Those are the Economics that started this War, and HomoNazi Ukraine deserves punishment."

Even in your befuddled mind state, you must know that's insane nonsense.
Vlad the Invader did not invade over Nord Stream, he invaded over Crimea and the Donbas.

Your suggestion that Ukraine needed to be "punished" in February 2022 because somebody would blow up Nord Stream in September 2022 is such mind-boggling stupidity that you really should keep such ideas to yourself.

I’m saying that if we send our troops thinking to fight Russians, we might be surprised finding Chinese troops fighting among the expected Russian troops. The Chinese are siding with the Russians. No need to hurry WWIII.

You didn't bother to read into the article.
To take the these criminal politicos at face value...
Let alone their... "word" is pure foolishness...

Oh it sucks for the Ukrainian people no doubt
But their "government" goes deeper into a fight they cannot win by themselves.

“You didn’t bother to read into the article.”

Or rather, I didn’t “read into” what you would like me to. But the fact is, most people didn’t even bother to actually read what was said at all, they simply jumped to the conclusions that they had already preconceived in their mind. And to get angry about that is simply irrational and silly, since you’ve just angered yourself.

“But their “government” goes deeper into a fight they cannot win by themselves.”

Oh, yes, the Ukrainians are such villains for not surrendering to Russian invaders. They should emulate the noble and civilized French and hand the keys to their country to anyone who makes it 50 miles past the border.

Yep.
Thats where we're at.
Or do we need more Iraq's? Really?
It's a European deal... let Europe handle....
NATO?
What a joke... their focus is on experimental vaccine distribution...
Freeze Russian assets-
Truly and meaningfully isolate them...
And start a Ukrainian resettlement emigration plan.

There is no taste For war in this. Enough already.

"Abject nonsense."

Sure, that's what total objective truth sounds like to minds befuddled by insane fact-free narratives.

I'll remind you of the first law of human nature: weakness provokes aggression from bad people.
Chechnya, Georgia and Ukraine are weak, and Vlad the Invader responded accordingly.
Russian victory over Ukraine will increase Russia's population and economy by about one third.

That will not make them easier to defeat the next time.

Your screed has no bearing on the security, or well being of Americans.

American Nationalists do not care what happens to the rest of the world, nor those in it.

Why would you think when I said "we're"... that would include you?
I made no such claim.
Or that it would include any Americans - brainwashed by the most corrupt
government in the World- this the US of A ?

Why would you think that?

There is clearly a defined, irreconcilable division in this country... there is no confusion in that.
There is no unity whereby "we're" could possibly mean an entirety or totality.

But hey, You go get 'em !

Navy Patriot post #194: "Too bad you can't comprehend what started this war, it's really pretty easy."

So let's go back and replay the posts.
First, House Atreides tells us the war was caused, somehow, by Nord Stream.

Next, Navy Patriot responds, claiming economics caused Putin's invasion:

So here is the basic sequence of events:
  1. 1997: Nord Stream 1 begins operations discharging about 1.9 trillion cuft/year from Russia to Germany, bypassing Ukraine and Poland.

  2. September 2021: Nordstream 2 is completed, ready to service Europe, bypassing Ukraine and Poland.
Nord Stream 2 will double the capacity of Nord Stream 1.
But many are fearful Nordstream 2 will will make Europe too dependent on Russia and hence susceptible to Putin's extortions.
So Nord Stream 2 does not go into operation.

  3. February 7, 2022: President Biden publicly warns Vlad the Invader that if he invades Ukraine, Nord Stream will be no more.

  4. February 24, 2022: Ignoring Biden's warning, Vlad the Invader launched his second invasion of Ukraine.
Five reasons were given by Russians for the invasion:

    • Putin's fears over NATO expansion.
Such fears would be utterly baseless had Russia itself joined NATO as planned in 1992.

    • Putin falsely claimed Ukraine was committing genocide against ethnic Russians.

    • Putin falsely claimed Ukraine isn't a real country.
In fact, Russia recognized Ukraine several times and guaranteed Ukraine's security in 1992.

    • Putin falsely claimed Ukraine was trying to build nuclear weapons.

    • Putin has said he wants to restore the old Russian Empire, and key to that is conquest of Ukraine.

The key point to notice here is that Putin never said anything about the economics of Nord Stream.
Indeed, if such economic factors were Putin's main concern, then ignoring Pres. Biden's February 7, 2022 warning was not such a wise move.

  5. September 26, 2022: as previously warned by Pres. Biden, both Nord Stream projects were decommissioned.
Bottom line: there were no publicly expressed "economic causes" for Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
Indeed, economics seems to have been Putin's least concern.

Mariner: "Your screed has no bearing on the security, or well being of Americans.

Then you guys are total mindless babbling idiots.
No place in the world is more than a few minutes away by ICBM, or a few hours away by commercial airliner, or a few days away by ship.
It's impossible to isolate America from the rest of the world, especially our allies, and any effort to do so will only make our conditions worse.

Using reasonable safeguards against over-dependence on our enemies (i.e., China) is one thing.
Applying those same restrictions to our friends & allies would be the height of stupidity.

Vlad the Invader's war in Ukraine represents a return to the Empires of Conquest that were largely destroyed by the First World War.
That new world of empires will not be friendly to us, and we will not like it.
