In an interview with Chris Wallace on CNN, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas explained that "when I say the border is secure this doesn't mean that people aren't able to cross the border illegally. It means that we are able to prevent Republicans from blocking the entry of foreigners that the Administration believes will help make the country stronger."
"Surveys have shown that people are coming here because the President has invited them to come," the Secretary pointed out. "Their gratitude for being admitted and gaining their fair share of the benefits and amenities the US has to offer helps bolster the number of defenders of democracy that can be counted on to beat back the evil schemes of the MAGA extremists that want to destroy everything Democrats have done to redistribute wealth from those who don't deserve it to those who do."
Mayorkas went on to blame Republicans for the human trafficking, drug smuggling, and murders committed by the cartels, "their loud announcements that the border is open have abetted the atrocities these criminals have perpetrated. If they had kept quiet about it, the cartels might not have realized that they could easily ply their nefarious trade. The rapes, fentanyl poisonings, and related crimes would've been rarer than they are. So, yes, the culpability is mostly theirs alone."
