It’s so people can distinguish their golf carts, which can be hard to do when there are so many similar ones and it’s the primary way of getting around The Villages.

I had never heard about this until my son was egging me about sending me there for my later years. He is gathering loofahs so he can be ready to fling me out the car.
Must have been a slow week in The Villages, or else this is one of those urban legends.
Visited my sister and BIL down there a few months back for nearly a week. Saw about a zillion golf carts, along with regular cars of course, didn’t see a single loofah. YMMV of course, but it’s viewed as kind of a joke down there, at least among my sister and her friends.
On a similar note, most people could care less what your ‘preference’ is (as long as it is not children). Just don’t do the in-your-face broadcasting, YOU have to accept and celebrate me crap. I used to joke about preferences ‘should I tattoo blonde hair - blue eyes on my forehead?’

I live in The Villages and can state as fact this article is complete bs. The Villages is a very conservative place and the media is always trying to tarnish us. Like the two movies they put out, all lies. Check out The Villages online, lots of good info and live cams.
