The New York Times showcased an apparent disregard for human life when it chose to legitimize the idea of mass suicide as one “drastic” method to deal with Japan’s aging population.
The Times pushed the extremism of Yale University Associate Professor of Economics Yusuke Narita, who apparently doesn’t mince words. “‘I feel like the only solution is pretty clear,’” Nartia reportedly stated during a 2021 online news program. “‘In the end, isn’t it mass suicide and mass ‘seppuku’ of the elderly?’ Seppuku is an act of ritual disembowelment that was a code among dishonored samurai in the 19th century.’” The Times propagandized Narita as an academic leaning “into his Ivy League pedigree as he fosters a nerdy shock jock impression. He is among a few Japanese provocateurs who have found an eager audience by gleefully breaching social taboos.” Yikes.

It is a good idea for all the ones who are crazy these days not the old people who have better logic, better work ethic and some common sense.
Sorry NYT, I am going to wait for all those senior leftists like Pelosi and the Clintoons to off themselves first to set the tone.
Its a good thing to know from whom some crazy ideas come from, and let readers see for themselves how crazy they are.
I think “showcase” is the term of the author and Pravda On The Hudson maybe did not think that was what they were doing.
Nations could insist on say buying drugs at a national per capita price instead of by the dose.
In that case, the percentage of people over 65 doesn’t matter for drugs.
For housing, elderly renters might relocate from expensive Tokyo to a cheaper area.
cuomo tried the vaccidental deaths for seniors and it seemed to work for him... no accountability. stick with that NY.
It’s interesting how easily and quickly the NYT embraces fascist beliefs. The Final Solution can’t be far behind.
The only method to deal with NYT’s aging workforce is to fire those above 45 years old and bring in new blood. We need to save the NYT. Without such action the NYT will continue it’s crawl to being irrelevant to the new leaders of our society.
In fact, why don't we start with Professor Narita since it was his idea?
And we are sure it was not just a “Modest Proposal”?
Let Associate Professor of Economics Yusuke Narita SHOW us how great this idea is by leading by example.........
I suggest that the NYT staff set the example.
Not just any solution, mind you. An ultimate solution.
I and many others would love to be invited to give “assisted” suicide to any and all those who work for that slimepaper.
What was that movie that had people go to the carousel at a certain age and people celebrated them being exterminated?
Was that Logan’s Run?
That’s fine ,start with everyone at the NYT.
I am 75. I am, of the opinion, that, the easiest thing to do is die. Living, requires more stamina,
The left’s bloodlust will never be satiated.
So it’s ok to pressure aging Japanese people into killing themselves. Substitute “non-communist White Americans” and the NYT has found the final solution of its dreams.
