I have no idea who this retired Air Force Officer is or what his qualifications are in order to make these claims, I mentioned this possibility in another thread about the balloon earlier and most didn't think this particular balloon was capable of carrying a nuclear device, instead of launching an ICBM which would be detectable early in flight and taken much more seriously, a balloon which the USA doesn't appear to take seriously, could invade US airspace unopposed and be positioned over the middle of the USA and create real problems, evidently this particular balloon has the ability to maneuver.

That is entirely believable.
So…China is going to nuke us, using a balloon at an altitude that would not impact a wide swath of the US?
Why would they commit suicide to knock out Bismarck and Billings?
Or, it could be just an errant weather balloon. Not everything is nefarious.
It appears to me that a balloon is a really inefficient delivery device.
No, it isn’t.
The Russians are also watching this closely.
Think chinks should’ve put an advertisement on it...cheap marketing.
Or it could be just because #Pfertility was all over Twitter.
THE chinks should’ve put an advertisement on it...cheap marketing.
This balloon was authorized by somebody in a very high up position of authority, otherwise it would been blown out of the sky almost immediately.
Let’s assume this story is possible, how much would a balloon cost versus and ICBM ???
The ICBM would be almost immediately detectable and reacted to, this balloon has invaded US Airspace and wasn’t immediately shot down and I’ve seen reports this isn’t the first balloon detected over the USA.
To me this perfect asymmetric warfare, a cheap delivery vehicle designed to accomplish one thing and makes the enemy hesitate in their response, potentially defeating missile defense systems that cost hundreds of billions of dollars.
This time it’s China doing it, what if the country was North Korea or Iran.
I have a very serious question:
How do we know it is a Chinese Spy Balloon?
We are in day three of the balloon saga and we ONLY have the WORD from the Department of Defense that it is a Chinese Spy Balloon.
How did DOD prove that allegation??????
Some of these comments almost make me wonder if the 50 cent army isn’t among us.
Or you could be a Chinese apologist.
The balloon could have within it a drone that could be launched and carry a small device to an area of greater impact.
We just dont know, and if this is truly a Chinese balloon (and not a US. balloon spying on Americans), it should have never been allowed anywhere near the borders of our country.
I suspect that when they decide to take Taiwan, they’ll send 50 of the balloons over and if we lift a finger to defend Taiwan, bye-bye power grid.
Very unlikely that the payload is an explosive device even if it is an EMP. The targeting is subject to the whims of Mother Nature’s weather. Far more effective for the payload to be a virus or other contagion that uses the weather to spread it. It would target our food supply sources like beef or vegetation like corn.
It’s funny this giant drifting balloon that everybody can see just sneaks up on us overnight and dominates the fake news cycle.
It could be that this thing isn’t shot down because the US operates similar balloons over other countries all the time and they’d be shot down too.
You’re probably right, what if multiple balloons were involved, I have seen reports that two balloons have been detected and these balloons are maneuverable, this time the balloon was from China, what if it was from North Korea or Iran, would the threat level be any higher one of those countries were involved.
Of course it is, and has been for some time.
A balloon with an apparatus the size of a couple vehicles? Think again, this was intentional and our government stands aside to let it roam our country. This government is not our friend.
