Former President Donald Trump did not hold back when asked about the possibility of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis running for the White House in 2024.
Trump, who is the only Republican to announce a campaign, said that it would be a “great act of disloyalty” if the governor challenges him.
Trump held campaign events in New Hampshire and South Carolina on Saturday and sat down with the Associated Press for an interview afterward.
The outlet pointed out that there are a growing number of potential challengers, including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley.
Trump commented on DeSantis specifically, taking credit for his win in Florida in 2018 by endorsing him.
“If he runs, that’s fine. I’m way up in the polls,” Trump said. “He’s going to have to do what he wants to do, but he may run. I do think it would be a great act of disloyalty because, you know, I got him in. He had no chance. His political life was over.”

If Trump doesn’t start talking about how to get more ballots cast for all Republican candidates he is wasting everyone’s time and dooming the country to unfettered Leftist rule.
I am seeing NOTHING about a strategy to WIN. If Trump goes on a complaint tour he loses BIGLY.
President Trump can’t say it, because he needs to win the race, but a protege surpassing the mentor is quite the complement and compliment.
Trump had one vote for DeSantis. Not much of a rescue. DeSantis stands on his own two feet. Trump’s ego is out of control.
If Trump loses the GOP nomination, he’s not above running as an independent, which would hand the election to the Democrat.
But then another left-wing candidate could run to take votes from Biden and we’d have a 4-way presidential race, which would make things interesting at least instead of the same tired old R’s vs. D’s charade.
Loyalty to Trump is loyalty to the mission.
Then Trump should bow out and endorse Ron DeSantis who is in a far better position to actually be elected president than Trump is.
SMALL MINDS think it is one or the other.
The more leaders the better. The more ideas and plans the better.
I’m not sure. Trump said there’s some bad stuff about DeSantis that only he and his wife know about. Whatever it is Trump surely meant it would derail DeSantis if he ran.
You bet. This is something the insider establishment political party would do. They don't like Trump. He's a threat to all of them. DeSantis is an insider tool at this point.

Trump MAY have helped push DeSantis across the finish line the first time, but DeSantis governed well and won in a landslide the second time. Maybe Trump should be taking notes from Ron instead of whining…

I don’t care about the words that come from the potential republican candidates at this point. It’s all campaign stuff, no matter what the words and no matter how early.
What I care about is the record.
The record says that, Trump was the best president for the U.S. in the last 100 years. Nobody can beat that kind of record, not even DeSantis, and Reagan comes in a close second.
Going with the record and what America needs in the future, I’m sticking with Trump.

It is not crap, it is the truth. Trump pulled him very the finish line. He won by about 20,000 votes out of millions cast.
That's an empty threat, and a childish one at that.
The Democrats spent millions trying to find dirt on DeSantis and the best they could come up with was that he attended a party in college that some high school girls showed up to with nothing more happening.
DeSantis is clean as a whistle.
