I like Speedy’s format a lot.

It’s a great service to those of us looking to stay abreast of the momentous events taking place in the Ukraine.

It is a curated collection of reports, conveniently organized into separate topical posts, so those of us in the regular user group can have several sidebar discussions, according to our expertise and interests.

He puts his 15-20 posts/links up early in the day, and we build on it through the day - sometimes past midnight, in my case.

It is a really great resource when big things happen, like the destruction of the Kerch Bridge, the sinking of the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the massive Russian retreat from the whole North of the Ukraine, the massive Russian retreat from Kharkiv Oblast and the effective destruction of the Russian 1st Guards Tank Division (Guard of Moscow), the liberation of Kherson, or even just another Russian General being killed or fired. The big story is post#1 each day - the gradual demilitarization of Russia, as the old Soviet stockpiles are expended, and the Russian economy and federal budget sink below the levels that would be needed to replace them - the relatively rapid flame out of Russia into a weak rump State, an effective vassal of China.

You are living in a fantasy world. So, of course you like the fantasy-based postings of Slow Poke.

Because of the incredibly stupid sanctions that your heros Biden, Yeltsin and Blinken put in place Russia is making more money selling oil than they were a year ago.

They are hardly "demilitarizing" - nice try. Is this "information" of yours from the same morons who have said repeatedly that Russia was "running out of missiles". Only to wake up to another barrage of 100+ missiles smashing into Ukranazi military positions and energy infrastructure.

Your guys stuff reads like a parody account much of the time.

Well I’m sure that might make you feel better but it sounds like wishful thinking. Which for some is easier than admit the otherwise obvious.

So far Russia still has it’s landbridge and looks like they intend to keep it once they determine the actual boundaries.

Ukraine can never join NATO as long as there’s any conflict in it’s country. You can bet any land which remains disputed, once negotiated, will have a frozen conflict. Further every NATO nation has to agree to Ukrain’s membership and that’s not going to happen either.

Sounnds like Russia crossing the river to keep the Ukraine military occupied there while they stabilize the area this side of the river.

NATO planners can count. They know how many of each type of system the Russians had (tanks, artillery, jets, missiles, etc). Even Oryx can count, from open sources, as reported on this thread each day.

Now that a trillion dollars of value have been sacrificed on the global economy due to Putin’s invasion, and (mostly) the resulting energy price shock, Russia is just not going to be left with that stuff, to do this kind of thing again.

Russian capabilities to conduct conventional warfare are being destroyed in detail - on purpose. Putin has proven that he cannot be trusted with such capability, and must be stopped.

Russia had a fleet of about 3,300 tanks in its operational force structure at the start of the war, across all units. About 2,800 of them were estimated to be operationally ready, and about another 1,000 could be made operational out of those older tanks in inactive storage. Well over 2,000 have been destroyed or captured since February 24th, 2022 - disproportionally the newer and better stuff. So halfway done. Another year like that, and the tank force in the field will be only what new production can provide - a small fraction of the current force fielded in the Ukraine.

The same depletion of stocks is occurring (at various rates) among Artillery shells and tubes, rockets and missiles, Close Air Support jets and helicopters, and other combat vehicles. At current rates of loss and production, they are all on track to deplete the pre-invasion (2022) stockpiles. At that point, countries including the Ukraine, Poland and Greece will each have larger standing fleets of major ground combat platforms than will Russia.

Despite the historic surge in revenues from record high oil and gas prices in 2022, the Russian budget ended 2022 with the second biggest deficit in post-Soviet history - officially over 2% of GDP, so likely worse (even after liquidating a significant percentage of the National Wealth Fund, and increasing ruble money supply at Argentinian speed).

2023 is set be significantly worse for the Russian budget - on track to polish off the National Wealth Fund.

Unlike the Ukraine, nobody is giving Russia anything, except sanctions. Some few, like China, North Korea, Iran or Nicaragua will sell Russia some stuff, but nobody just gives them weapons. Not Kazakhstan, not Serbia, not Syria.

Russia is a pariah, that is going down in history as led by brutal war criminals, whose charges are already being prepared in The Hague. Putin is on track to expend the rest of the old Soviet stockpiles, bankrupt the Treasury and expend a few hundred thousand more Russian lives this year. Then it is either nuclear murder/suicide, or pack up and go home from the Ukraine.

I am guessing they are for the Counter-Attack Force that is being assembled. Several Brigades of Tank and Mechanized Infantry.

Tick tock on the countdown clock for Russian Close Air Support airframes (and crews). Another high attrition day.

@ChuckPfarrer 8h

BAKHMUT / 1310 UTC 25 JAN / RU troops press offensive operations on the Bakhmut Area of Operation (AO). An increase in RU Close Air Support Sorties has resulted in a number of kills for UKR air deference. UKR shot down a Su-25 strike aircraft and 3 RU Ka-52 attack helicopters.

Not wishful thinking at all.

No country in Europe is going to allow Putin/Russia to take Ukraine or any of its land. Much lees the U.s., especially under Biden who doesn't want another 'Afghanistan' in his resume, and no democrat wants that either when the next election cycle is only a few months away.

Losing by Ukraine means losing by NATO and the western world and especially by the U.S.

So, the wishful thinking is on your part, hoping that Russia gets its way.

Are you sober? Ukraine is an unmitigated disaster. Everything is destroyed. Shortages of food, heat, transportation, apartment buildings and roads, power plants, water plants, etc are in rubble.

Where is such destruction in Russia? Only a blind or drunk person concludes Ukraine will win the war.

3 RU Ka-52!!! Just wow.

That has got to hurt.

Putin must have ordered "Take Bakhmut at all costs".

Perhaps we will see more Mi-24 Hinds being flown and shot down.

“Everything is destroyed.”

Only the ‘supposedly’ pro-RuZZian eastern / southern part of the country is ‘destroyed’.

The rest of the country is doing just fine.
