Well, now. Isn’t this interesting? As we reported in August, the FBI seized the cellphone of Pennsylvania Republican Rep. Scott Perry, a fierce Trump ally and head of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, the day after the FBI raid on former President Donald Trump’s personal residence at Mar-a-Lago.
My how things change — when you regain the majority in the House of Representatives.
Perry told ABC News “This Week” host George Stephanopoulos on Sunday that he might seek to participate on a new House committee to investigate the FBI and other federal agencies, including the same investigators who investigated him. Karma? What goes around, comes around? Or something else?
As I reported on Saturday, McCarthy agreed — as part of negotiations to secure the requisite number of votes to win the gavel — to organize a Church-style committee to investigate alleged abuses by the FBI, National Security Council, CIA, and the FBI in recent years.
As reported by Reuters, Perry, like Trump, has insisted that the 2020 presidential election was “stolen” from Trump through widespread voter fraud. However, Perry told Stephanopoulos he doesn’t see a conflict of interest if he participates in a congressional investigation of the FBI.
Why should I be limited? Why should anybody be limited just because someone has made an accusation? Everybody in America is innocent until proven otherwise. […]
I get accused of all kinds of things every single day, as does every member that serves in the public eye. But that doesn’t stop you from doing your job. It is our duty. And it is my duty.
Not to nitpick, but Perry wasn’t simply accused of things — a timeline of his texts with former Trump Chief of Staff Mark Meadows shows the Freedom Caucus chair worked to overturn the election, including by setting up a “cyber team.” Meadows turned over the texts to the Jan. 6 Committee during its “investigation.”
So here’s the question:
Should Perry recuse himself from an investigation of the FBI and other federal agencies because he continued to insist that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump? Or should he participate on the committee if asked to do so?
Seems to me that if Trump is “allowed” to run for the presidency, Perry shouldn’t be kept off a committee to investigate the investigators who investigated him.
Go for it Scott you do for yourself and the rest of us.
The claims against Perry are completely bogus and break no laws. I so want Perry to be on this committee. I want the FBI shuttered and every last one of those scumbags unemployed. There is no such thing as a good FBI agent. If there was we would have been hearing about their decades of abuse from FBI agents. They are complicit in their silence.
The FBI, like the CIA, needs to be broken into a million pieces, to paraphrase JFK. The American republic has no business supporting a Stasi equivalent.
Quite simply, law enforcement is a local government function. (See the 10a)
Absolutely. And thank you for being brave enough to share.

I'm no Sean Hannity with regard my defense of the FBI, but that brush is a little too broad. There are some, admittedly apparently only a few, whistleblowers coming forward. More will come forward once this committee is official.
Hopefully we will finally have a name or two to measure up to the likes of Strzok, Baker and the like, which we need. Thanks.
I absolutely agree, which is why the liberals are so hell bent on destroying local enforcement. They have one major objective, federalize everything.
I hope that congress has the legal ability to seize a bunch of cell phones.
Chuck Schumer warned, “Let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community — they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you,”
It’s sad to live in a world where that is the case.
It begs for someone to intervene to stop it.
Where is the Supreme Court of the United States for starters?
BALLS TO THE WALL PERRY!
