SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF/AP) — After experiencing an atmospheric river that soaked Northern California New Year's weekend, Bay Area residents prepared for another, even stronger storm system set to arrive Wednesday that weather forecasters warn could have catastrophic impacts.
(Snip)
"To put it simply, this will likely be one of the most impactful systems on a widespread scale that this meteorologist has seen in a long while," the statement read. "The impacts will include widespread flooding, roads washing out, hillside collapsing, trees down (potentially full groves), widespread power outages, immediate disruption to commerce, and the worst of all, likely loss of human life. This is truly a brutal system that we are looking at and needs to be taken seriously."

>>Hopefully, they will be able to find a Republican to blame for this.
They already have - all weather events are now climate change, caused by Republican policies.
Well, maybe the heavy rains will wash some of the filth from the streets.
“It never rains in California
But girl, don’t they warn ya
It pours, man, it pours “
From back in the good old days of 1972 when we were valiantly staving off the next impending ice age.
If the reservoirs are filled again, will they be emptied for the benefit of the delta smelt, or will the water be more carefully used than it was the last time?
These storms have happened before, many times.
Check out the Great Flood of 1862. That was a real disaster!

These storms used to be called "The Pineapple Express" but I guess pineapples took umbrage?
They planted trees that became giant in the beach sand in Golden Gate park, no wonder the trees blow over(entire groves).
“atmospheric river”
Oh, PLease! Please! Please! Make them stop coming up with these stupid phrases. They now give names to snow storms and thunderstorms. What next? Naming scary looking clouds?
Parts of the Bay are inhabited with Republicans. Wish them well.
Sounds like it will be a real turd floater.
Get the arks ready.
What’s a cubit?
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch
It’s IT’S CLIMATE CHANGE!
Yea, but Bomb Cyclone sounds so much scarier than a Nor’Easter.
I lived in the bay area, for a few years at the bottom of a hill. Wasn’t fun with all the mud rolling down. Had to find alternative parking, put my boots on to walk home. Downtown had to put sandbags by the doors.
It happens there, as you posted, normal weather alert.

Exactly. I remember wanting to hop on a plane and fly to Tucson just to see the sun for a day.
I am going to make a bold prediction. Women and minorities will be hardest hit
