Barbara Walters, the trailblazing television news broadcaster and longtime ABC News anchor and correspondent who shattered the glass ceiling and became a dominant force in an industry once dominated by men, has died. She was 93.
Walters joined ABC News in 1976, becoming the first female anchor on an evening news program. Three years later, she became a co-host of "20/20," and in 1997, she launched "The View." In a career that spanned five decades, Walters won 12 Emmy awards, 11 of those while at ABC News.
She made her final appearance as a co-host of "The View" in 2014, but remained an executive producer of the show and continued to do some interviews and specials for ABC News.
"I do not want to appear on another program or climb another mountain," she said at the time. "I want instead to sit on a sunny field and admire the very gifted women -- and OK, some men too -- who will be taking my place."

She definitely considered herself one of the power elites who were her constant subjects. She probably was. I remember when she jumped networks a few decades ago, they were making like it was the biggest story since the Titanic..
Too bad she didn’t take Leslie Stahl with her
She did her job...
She was a snob, became a caricature of herself.
Didn’t she ask Jimmy Carter what type of tree he would be?
Supposed to have had an affair with Castro.
And the republican senator from Massachusetts?
. . . but she had a nice rack.
The View when Walters was involved was intellectual and interesting. It’s wasn’t ‘silly Bimbos on Parade’... like it is today.
She was a trailblazer in a business that was not good for women.
My wife had a career as a broadcaster. In her first job interview some guy in his 60’s hit on her. People she reported on hit on her. One boss told her to get an abortion when she was pregnant with our daughter.
Barbara Walters success was a big part in ending the “reporter is a bimbo” mindset.
While I didn’t like her politics, I respect what she did for the profession.
Here ya go.
Sure do miss Gilda.
We all do, my FRiend.
I put her on the same level as Walter Cronkite; She knew what she was doing to the American people.
RIP, Barbara.
Her and Oprah
Turn the effin page.
This is another that did more damage for which she would never be held accountable.
Good riddance.
Dinosaurs, be gone!
Good night leftist.
Glory Days.
🤣🤣🤣
Yeah.. she was one of those old fashioned ‘formidable liberal women.’ I know the breed... very popular with the ‘ladies who lunch..’ etc..
She was an educated and more intelligent version of Hanoi Jane...
She never came across an individual freedom or liberty she believed was in the hive interest...
May she R.I.P.

I generally enjoyed her long form interviews and watched her and Hugh Downs on 20/20 for a long time. It’s where I first encountered John Stossel
So if she becomes a tree, what kind of tree will she be?
