BUFFALO, N.Y. — State and military police were sent Tuesday to keep people off Buffalo’s snow-choked roads, and officials kept counting fatalities three days after western New York’s deadliest storm in at least two generations.
Even as suburban roads and most major highways in the area reopened, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz warned that police would be stationed at entrances to Buffalo and at major intersections because some drivers were flouting a ban on driving within New York’s second-most populous city.
More than 30 people are reported to have died in the region, officials said, including seven storm-related deaths announced Tuesday by Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown’s office. The toll surpasses that of the historic Blizzard of 1977, blamed for killing as many as 29 people in an area known for harsh winter weather.

A few more military people in looting-prone areas would have helped also.
The governor hasn’t called out the national guard BEFORE?!
If it had been a republican mayor or governor who deliberately shut down emergency services and let stranded travelers die in their vehicles it would be a national outrage. But it’s democrats so no biggie.
since when do we police snow storms
I don’t think you can get the seat belt around a Buffalo.
The official name for Buffalo is Joy Behar.
Since NYS can’t hire enough plow drivers due to the vaxx mandate...?
Chicago had it’s biggest snow storm in 67.
Power didn’t go out (Back when common sense ruled.) and neighbors grouped together to fix things.
We, the whole neighborhood, ran out of food.
The Dad’s in the neighborhood shoveled us out. Went to the the elderly in our neighborhood got their grocery list.
Grabbed all their kids sleds and walked miles to the grocery store to restock our food.
My Dad set this whole thing up. Never been prouder that I knew some one so kind.
Does using the military violate the Posse Comitatus act?
A driving ban, but not a looting ban.
Democrats, the party of death.
Their bloodlust will never be sated.
Won’t work not with all the ‘Doorbuster’ ceralance sales going at present! Prices so low stuff is flying out the doors and windows! Everything is a STEAL!
Don’t be confused by how ABC wrote the article. The military they are using is Nation Guard, not the regular military. The regular military cannot be used for state law enforcement.
wy69
29 have died.
That's about .001933% of the population. Just to put it in perspective.
I thought the Buffalo Driving Ban would be in Yellowstone.
A driving ban, but not a looting ban.

So, slide that garbage can full of Heineken over the snow, no problem.
Has martial law been declared? If not, what authority gives the military the right to deny the rights of citizens. What about Posse Comitatus? Doesn’t that expressly prohibit the military from supporting local law enforcement unless authorized by law?
Very good story....and, memory... of a better time.
The record snow/ice doesn’t seem to be stopping the looter guys/gals, unfortunately.
