Can’t blame all those ills on just the casinos.
That stuff was going on long before the first casino was ever built.

Thanks you two. I just watched the first episode of 1923 and it looks much better.

Then again it is kind of a new story line so that may have something to do with it.

I wish they would have found someone other than Harrison Ford to play Jacob Dutton, and now they're having to contend with wayward sheep farmers.

"I have no idea if that is true - but it sounds like it could be with them being on tribal land."

I just did a search, and it said State and local building codes do not apply on tribal lands. They can create their own. Then I did a search for OSHA on tribal lands, and they do regulate workplaces located on tribal lands, and operated by tribal employers. Seems a bit strange. State and local governments have no say in the construction of safe buildings, but then the Feds oversee the safety of the employees in those same buildings.

I agree. While I like Ford as an actor, there are better choices. Perhaps he fit the age group this character was in the script. They did a good job leaving us hanging on two fronts in the first episode.

It's too bad they didn't use Ford as the wagon train master in 1883, and kept Sam Eliot as Jacob Dutton in 1923. As far at one of the cliff hangers, I'm assuming Jack Dutton survives being shot at since he's in all 8 episode of the season.

I was a bit surprised they had Elsa Dutton narrating the opening of the first episode of 1923, seeing as she died in 1883. It's amazing what Hollywood can do.

I noticed that intro narration too. Maybe it was a nod to her performance in 1883 which was quite good.

Jack Dutton is in all 8 too. Maybe he gets wounded. Either way a range war between the sheep ranchers and cow ranchers has started.

I’m guessing the sheep ranchers end up relocating. It would be a waste to see all the sheep killed. They were warned though.

I was blown away by her acting. I don't think I'd ever seen her in anything else before that. As for the sheep farmers. They should have stayed in Ireland. Over there, sheep can graze wherever the hell they like.

For a number of tribes, wealth from casinos has compounded preexisting Indian social problems, with cocaine and heroin substituted for alcohol, more powerful vehicles leading to more deadly crashes, and guns used in disputes instead of fists and knives.

And since Indian reservations are mostly self-governing, law enforcement tends to be weak and too often compromised by tribal politics and personal and family ties. As for Yellowstone, its view of Indians is far more sympathetic than critical or even realistic.

I watched a 50-min recap of the first four seasons, on youtube.
Had I been counting, I’d have lost count of the f-bombs.

“If Perry created all the problems that Dutton is now having to deal with, and get rid of, I don’t understand why he is being so polite to her.“

She did that stuff to win election to the Senate. He knows that.

I wonder when she is going to DC to go to work.

The show is a little confusing when it comes to timelines. The new series opens with John Dutton being sworn in. That usually takes place in early January in Montana As a U.S. Senator, Perry would have been sworn in about the same time. One would assume because of the official January swearing-in time frame, that the first episode is set in January. A couple of the newer episodes deal with cattle branding, which according to searches, takes place in Montana, in the spring each year. If it's now spring, it seems that there's a bunch of time missing from Dutton's Governorship this season. Now a group of cowboys will be driving Dutton's cattle to leased land, as his own property has been contaminated by diseased bison. Supposedly, those cowboys, including Rip, will be gone for a year. It makes me wonder where the show's timeline will be when it returns for the second half of the season on January 1st.

Awesome show.

Great quotes.

Like them all. Monica is a mess, though.

Rip would be my favorite if I only could pick one.
