Kudos to Publix! For the second time during this inflation era, Publix has kept their turkey prices for Thanksgiving down to the pre-inflation level of just 49 cents per pound. I bought two of them right after I recorded this. One will be smoked and the other cooked via sous vide. Therefore we will have TWO turkeys for Thanksgiving.
The money I saved by buying these turkeys will be invested in alcoholic drinks for the holiday.
I love how you are reinvesting your cost avoidance on turkey.
I miss a good old Jaindl turkey during the holidays...since escaping PA many years ago. ;)
What do you Sous vide a turkey in, the bath tub?

Is that legal in all 50 states?
Absolutely. Plus you set the temp for the breasts lower and for less time than legs. Great thing about sous vide is you have a lot of turkey to use for making stock for use in making gravy. Also the wings go into the stock pot.
$0.47lb where I’m at now but we bought early at $1.18lb... go figure.
Love Publix. Missing them here.
About $2 per pound at Hannafords and Wegmans for a pretty decent quality turkey here in the northeast.
Plainville is to die for. Best turkeys on the planet!
I used to think PA was saner than NY. Not so much anymore.
