A Twitter engineering manager reportedly vomited into a trash can after being told to fire hundreds of people by one of Elon Musk’s advisers.
The revelation came in a lengthy article from the New York Times on Musk’s first weeks as the owner of Twitter.
"The fallout has often been excruciating, according to 36 current and former Twitter employees and people close to the company, as well as internal documents and workplace chat logs,” the Times report says. “Some top executives were summarily fired by email. One engineering manager, upon being told to cut hundreds of workers, vomited into a trash can. Others slept in the office as they worked grueling schedules to meet Mr. Musk’s orders.”
The article later reiterates, “one engineering manager was approached by Mr. Musk’s advisers — or ‘goons,’ as Twitter employees called them — with a list of hundreds of people he had to let go. He vomited into a trash can near his feet.”

In my experience, the better your people are, the easier it is because you know they will come out ahead. Several of them tell me that getting riffed was the best thing that happened for their careers. Working those out who think they can do the job but don’t have the skills and will struggle in the next job as well is what’s tough.
Oh, sure he did.
But, Mein Feuhrer.. Steiner has surrendered
That is true.
But you have no info to assume the guy tasked with firing these people was a “decent man.”
He could have vomited because he had a stomach bug, or was upset Elon was changing the woke and lax corporate culture at Twitter, and now he had to let go a bunch of comrade wokesters.
For sure I never said he was particularly a decent man.
I am just saying it is not weakness that makes you miserable over firing hundreds of employees. It is evidence of your humanity.
You said this in the context of the guy throwing up. As an indication a decent person might feel sick doing so.
😆
LOL!
My old boss was the junior guy in a department that was guilty of doing some illegal things. Since he was so junior, he was the only person not involved.
He got called into an office by the big bosses and asked if he wanted to head of the department. He, of course, said yes. They said good. Your first job is to fire everybody in the department.
He had to call all his seniors in one by one and shitcan them. This was a major department at a major company.
He was a legend and the best boss I ever had. Super fare and super loyal to his employees. The people he fired were crooks and he never looked back.
Where’s the clip of that entitled 20-something little girl with vocal fry talking about the red wine on tap at company expense, to round out the day while taking in the views from the roof?
Great feel-good story.
He always had that swag and legend about him, but none of us would ask him about it.
If I actually mentioned the scandal and the company many people would know the story right away. Some people may posit an educated guess but I won’t confirm.
See post #47.
Many thanks!

“ No barf alert?”

LOL - To the tenth power. Good one, Larry.
I’m betting these same communists wouldn’t be barfing if they were asked by their DearLeaders to chop up even a few unreformed citizens.
It is why I have never made friends with people I work with. And certainly why I don’t befriend my employees. Sounds harsh but I have seen companies utterly destroyed by a boss refusing to fire a “friend”
If everyone assumed this manager was a decent human being, the scoffing would be almost non-existant. The picture most have is of a weak soy boy, destroying America from behind his computer screen, then puking when asked to do the hard work.
