I remember the day when nearly all elections were decided on election night, and very close races by the next day. Now, even with extended voting periods and mail-in voting, they often drag on for days, even weeks in some cases. You could almost get the impression this is done deliberately, so that extra caches of votes can always be found until enough have been found.
