On the first day of every job I had as a professional I was informed: “We can fire you for any reason.” Suck it up, Buttercup.

At will employment. You can be fired at any time for any reason or for no reason at all. I'm good with that.

Correct, so in effect Musk is giving them 90 days notice.

General layoff’s are usually used to get rid of certain employees who would be problematic under normal circumstances.

Musk exceeded the requirements of the WARN act. That requirement is sixty days. He’s paying them until February of next year. That’s way longer than sixty days

So if you're pregnant you can't be fired?

I can understand it if you can't be fired because you're pregnant.

So many people struggle with correlation vs causation.

Not sure about layoffs...

We now live in a world where local politicians, state politicians, and federal politicians, along with their judicial allies, can tell you, a private property owner, that you cannot evict a tenant who refuses to pay rent.... What is different about that versus a judge telling Elon Musk that you must continue to employ a person in your company?

Musk needs to establish a "rubber room" like the public schools have, where a teacher who can't be fired at will must come and sit all day, looking at his smart phone or reading magazines—but stay out of the classroom until the legal case regarding his firing finally winds its way through the union and the courts. Some of them end up twiddling their thumbs in such rooms every school day for years.

She must know they have all her personal web history using their IT systems.

All email and instant messaging text.

Sure there are more than enough nuggets on page one to justify her termination.

She sounds like a nightmare.

Good luck to the baby daddy, or whomever.

Uh, so being pregnant is a shield for mass company layoffs? Dont think so.

Pregnancy is protected class by the EEOC, but she would have to establish that she was fired because she was pregnant, and not because she was incompetent. As I understand it, Musk provided all laid-off employees 3 months severance. You know & I know that Musk more than likely made all the fired employees sign an agreement that essentially says: “in return for this money, recipient is barred from litigation on this matter.”

She 3 months full pay and 6 months unemployment. In Calif if she goes to school along the lines of what she did then she gets 50 weeks unemployment so in total a nice big vacation.

" She's the one with the burden of proof, to prove that claim true. Not Twitter/Musk. Being part of a mass layoff very likely gives Twitter/Musk cover."

Agreed on both counts. She actually screwed up royally by bragging about her positive reviews and her team kudos, instead she should have indicated she could fulfill the test in Young, ie, "I was not accommodated on x number of occasions and I have receipts."

But what can you do, her name is Wu (lol).
