As political forces ostensibly opposed to President Emmanuel Macron failed to use their majority to censure his government this week Macron pushed forward advocating for "reform" of pensions in France as a means to cut government spending.
Appearing on "France 2" government television Wednesday Macron was adamant that a mechanism must be found to spend less money on pensions by raising the retirement age or by negotiating larger worker contributions to France's pension system.
Macron signaling that he might not push the retirement age all the way from 62 to 65 if people are willing to pay more for pensions...
There were two censure motions on the government with one proposed by the National Rally supported by its assembly members then in a surprise move the censure motion of the "Left" union called "Nupes" was supported by the National Rally.
239 of the 577 National Assembly members united in censure of the government...
