"Stochastic terrorism" is a pretentious phrase used to demonize - perhaps even criminalize - any political opinion the left disagrees with. So, if someone holding a belief similar to a view expressed by a conservative politician or journalist subsequently commits a violent crime, the politician or journalist can be accused of inciting that crime.

Of course, as with everything on the left, double standards apply, and the same principle can never be applied to the beliefs or rhetoric of the left, no matter how much violence is subsequently perpetrated by people sharing those beliefs.

The "stochastic terrorism" ploy is being used with J6, so that anyone who expressed doubts about the 2020 election is being held responsible for the actions of the violent few who fought with police and smashed windows on that day.

And the beliefs of the non-violent people who were later hunted down and arrested for "trespassing" and "parading" are being used to justify harsher than normal penalties for what are minor crimes, crimes for which BLM protesters and rioters typically had the charges dropped or received a minor fine.
